Kangz 3rd Gear August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 SQ more miles require...ha ha ha...cause the normal fare also more mah...but frankly not speaking because I am Singaporean but I do find that SQ is really amount one of the best airline you can find...Altough alot is catching up fast....I like Asiana too because very often they have a set of "United Nation" crew on board....ha ha ha... Yeah SQ is really one of the best airlines around, when hardware is concerned. The planes are newer, and KrisWorld is fantastic. But when it comes to the crew, they are only average when service is concerned. OK la I flew economy all the time so maybe I haven't experienced the special service that those in the premium cabins enjoy. But then when one pays a higher premium for a seat on SQ (even in economy), one does expect something more special. The crew seem to be in a hurry all the time (yes even on long haul flights above 7 hours) and because of this, they can seem a bit impatient at times.. Ok maybe I am just being anal But everytime I fly SQ, I can't help having this feeling that maybe I am better off saving a couple of hundred bucks and fly other carriers like BA or Eva instead. Vollov Neutral Newbie August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 it's 20k econ to narita. biz to narita is 40k. if you have to use rulebuster to counter blackout dates, then one leg will go from 10k to 20k for econ and up accordingly for biz. NWA is Northwest, so nope...KF cannot convert...how I wish can convert...I had ard 100k on NWA and been slowly claiming Japan tix from them... :p
Seaweed 1st Gear August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 Yup...Japanese culture...always a smiling face....but I have one bad incident....I ask for an additional bottle of water...and the nice Japanese girl tell me I am on entitle to one....i feel like asking her....do i need to pay for another seat to get an extra bottle !!!! overall nice experience....The reception girls at ANA lounge in Narita...if i can....i give them 101 marks for friendliness.. Vollov Neutral Newbie August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 actually...if you take the european or american airlines, their stewardess flying these routes are usually older...and also more cranky when compared to our dear sweet and demure SQ stewardesses... and yes, they will tell you to shut up and sit down if they buay song...hahaha
Seaweed 1st Gear August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 ha ha ha when you are on BA or EVA then you will think....s-h-i-t...why not i just pay a bit more and go by SQ....anyway just example....BA or EVA is definitely good as compare to the chinese airline...especially air china and china eastern....but domestic airline like hainan air is surprisingly good....very pretty crew and new plane... Vollov Neutral Newbie August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 Actually, 7 hrs cannot be considered long haul. Also, if you talk to the SQ cabin crew, they will tell you these flights are the worst. Every service is rushed because they only have a limited time window to serve everyone. If you take away the 1st and last 30 mins for take off and landing, and another 30 mins in the beginning once in the air for them to give you drinks, before they start the meal service, they really have very little time to serve around 200+ passengers. And because it is SQ, the expectation by the passengers are also higher and, thus, they have more work to do. Be nicer to the cabin crew, they really do not have an easy job. BA and QA and the rest, they are just plain horrible if you ask me. When you are in the air, you will start to wonder why you didn't just pay the hundred or so more and go with SQ. In econ, i agree with you in saying SQ they tend to be impatient but at least you still get served. In the rest, it's more like you are transparent. Having said that, business class in SQ cannot be beat. They are really good...and this despite them cutting cost in recent years already.
Vollov Neutral Newbie August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 hahaha...it seems we feel the same way w.r.t BA, etc service compared to SQ.
Kangz 3rd Gear August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 (edited) Yup I understand that they have alot of passengers to serve (worse when flight is full), that's why I am very good on flights one I never ask for extra this or more of that. If I am not sleeping I will just read or watch movie. For other carriers like BA or QA, I think the crew tends to be more relaxed and thus, they may appear to do their stuff in a more erm..leisurely manner. Perhaps tt's why they appear to be not serving people? haha I must say the new SQ biz class looks fantastic. Too bad my UA Mileage Plus miles cannot be used on SQ flights Edited August 16, 2007 by Kangz
Chocobelle Neutral Newbie August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 hey try thai airways next time... fares r abt 20-30% cheaper than SQ, service & still can clock mileage coz it's star alliance. not sure abt the new BKK airport but their lounge in the old airport damn nice & cozy. Vollov Neutral Newbie August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 I agree regarding Thai...but that also means a transit in BKK for a few hours. :/

Kianbeng Clutched August 17, 2007 Share August 17, 2007 Not me. I saw some ppl got scolded. ie to ask them to sit down, do not do this / that... I mean those could have been conveyed more politely.
Kianbeng Clutched August 17, 2007 Share August 17, 2007 I find the SQ girls / men are very busy....much more than other airlines. I think they actually packed the limited amount of time to do more things. ie, hot towel, snacks, refreshments.... Btw, for the past 1-2 years, I noticed alot more stewards onboard. I wouldn't be surprised if they were actually ex-police officers or the sort.....

Just saw your posts after I posted mine. Guess we are on the same wavelength. I actually hope they get paid better than other airlines coz thruout the flight, they are almost busy thruout. For long hauls, other airlines' stewardess probably will be sitting at the galley most of the time. ↡ Advertisement
