Mingsect 5th Gear September 3, 2007 Share September 3, 2007 (edited) acutally mapking is smart to associate itself with malsing.. but do not be confused, you're not acutally using the full malsing map.. what the malsing version of mapking acutally does. is to incoperate some of the mapping /info that was done by malsing i fired up both version of the map, from mapking and from malsing for mapking mainly which is hdb blocks and hdb service road,( those small roads in new hdb estate leading to loading/unloading, mscp, and garbage dump area.. not sure if they managed to fix the errors in the entering of expressway and the wrong u-turns.. acutally you pay for what you get.. if budget can afford get the garmin nuvi Edited September 3, 2007 by Mingsect

Rskeisuke Clutched September 3, 2007 Share September 3, 2007 i bought mine on saturday at the show. initial lock on to satellite is quite fast, under one min from cold. Subsequent startup, only need about 20-30 secs to be fully functional(under open sky, not inside MSCP) I'm getting PDOP as low as 1.3 at times!! volume can be adjusted, it's under "Others" in the main menu. Can also turn off speed warning.. i turn mine off, cos the "Please slow down... please slow down" when I'm doing 60km/h on a 50 is darn irritating! I prefer the lady voice to the man's. I also find using "Low" under highway detail is better as it only tells you the next exit that is coming up rather than next 3 exit. I find the re-routing(i.e. when you make a wrong turn) acceptable, takes about 6-7 secs, but sometimes it tells you to do a u-turn instead of using another route. Driving into and coming out of CTE tunnel is also not much of a problem, as the re-acquiring of GPS signal is very fast...
Mivec9 1st Gear September 3, 2007 Share September 3, 2007 wow...guess u r the only one who manages to find out so much on this set. I see that is has alot great functions at this price
Rskeisuke Clutched September 3, 2007 Share September 3, 2007 I was aiming for the Garmin Nuvi 600 initially, but the high price is really off my budget. So I get this instead. Of course, 4.3" screen will definitely be better than 3.5". One warning for all newbies like myself, do not get distracted by the colourful graphics and moving maps on your GPS screen. You are suppose to follow the voice nav. I nearly back-end another car on my virgin GPS-guided drive. ↡ Advertisement
