Icekitten Clutched September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Ic. So for Altis the high beam is to push the stick forward and not to pull it to click? Then what about foglight switch for Altis? ↡ Advertisement
Haurus85 Neutral Newbie September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 For Altis, if you push the stick forward it'll remain there. You can pull it but it'll spring back. So its easier to flash high beam at people! The foglight switch is in the center console. And there's no indicator (as far as i know) to show that your foglights are on. So, its also highly possible that blur sotongs don't even know their foglights are on. But i'm not condoning high beam driving. Its irritating as hell as i am quite sensitive to bright lights. But if you are blur sotong, then i also dunno how to help. Haha
Icekitten Clutched September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Wah....Toyota very bad leh....encouraging drivers to flash others....
Haurus85 Neutral Newbie September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 LOL How do other rides work? I just know that for Altis its very likely to have both highbeam and fog light on without really realizing it.
Icekitten Clutched September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 For those cars I drove before, pulling the light switch lever to click towards you is the turning on of the highbeam. So if you pull, click, pull, click, it's a on-and-off, equals flash. For my Lancer, there is no indicator for foglight but there is a highbeam indicator light on the speedo panel, so it's very obvious to tell if my high beam is on or not. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that this indicator should be quite standard. I have not driven a Toyota before with the exception of the old Corolla, and I did not use the highbeam so I won't know about Toyota.
Icekitten Clutched September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 (edited) I just know that for Altis its very likely to have both highbeam and fog light on without really realizing it. No wonder so many Altis on the road with their foglights and high beam on.... Edited September 11, 2007 by Icekitten
Josephteo 1st Gear September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 hi... you're right..the highbeam indicator light is pretty much standard on the speedometer.. But as for the fog lights... it's usually not indicated... I used to drive the Ford Mondeo and to turn on the fog lights.. you pull the light switch outwards (continental cars have a light switch on the right side panel below the air con vent) but for the Lancer, it's a switch next to the mirror adjustment switch. I wonder where is the fog light switch for the Lancer EVO IX though coz that switch for the fog lights is for selecting the traction control (tarmac, ice, etc) for the EVO. Anyone knows where is the fog light switch for the Lancer EVO IX?

Zippaboy 4th Gear September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 got highbeam indicator on dashboard iirc. bright blue icon. i think foglight got light on the switch too, AD changed my sis's ride switch without her knowing. so i assume all new Altis should have the new switch too. cefiro_dude Neutral Newbie September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Just for the record, the fog lamps on the cefiro are activated by turn switches. Cheers
Icekitten Clutched September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Pull slightly without clicking lor, can also flash.
Haurus85 Neutral Newbie September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Yes, highbeam indicator is standard. Fog light is not. But i guess some people dun look at their dashboard when they drive.
cefiro_dude Neutral Newbie September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Sheesh up till now I always thought the high beam was turned on by pushing the headlight control stalk away from you. Didn't know some manufactures incorporate the pull towards u, click and then push away thingy onto the control stalk to on & off the high beam. The only drawback i can see of this is that it becomes difficult to flash ur high beam when necessary to inform other cars or pedestrians for that matter of impending danger. Icekitten Clutched September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 For my ride, the foglight light on the foglight switch is always lit. Regardless of whether I turned it on or not. So it's not an indicator light. Dunno about others.
Haurus85 Neutral Newbie September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 If i'm not wrong, the foglight switch there got a little tiny light. But with its postioning ah, i really won't notice it. And i'm the kinda person who read the car owner's manual cover to cover. Haha..imagine those who bo chup.
Haurus85 Neutral Newbie September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Lol, so i assume that taxis have very easy to use/engage high beam controls. Cuz they love to flash high beam at you for no reason at all.
Icekitten Clutched September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Maybe they don't look in front too.... Obviously....from the number of jokers who drive at night without even realising that their headlights aren't on. Same principle, some don't realise their lights aren't on, some don't realise other lights that are supposed to be off are on.
cefiro_dude Neutral Newbie September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 I believe the foglamp indicator comes with the car if the foglamps are factory fitted. Cheers ↡ Advertisement
