Andpercent Neutral Newbie September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 To the stupid fella driving along ECP this morning around 7:20am when it was raining quite heavy. Please don't turn on your hazard lights JUST because it starts to rain heavily. You are NOT doing anyone a favour but instead, causing confusion to ALL. Nobody knows if your CTR spoil, if you want to turn left, want to turn right... In-fact, you are the ONLY joker doing that.. maybe you are tying to attract attention to your CTR? Don't be so ho-lian.... drive CTR only..not Veyron. Peace. ↡ Advertisement
Turbonetics 2nd Gear September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 i don't see any problem with that. i guess he just want people to drive slowly and carefully. do you confirm it is a real CTR?
Galantspeedz Turbocharged September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 i think he was trying to be kind...... when rain is heavy, you may not see far in front of you..... so the hazard light will allow the car to be more visible. If really is new car, i guess he is afraid people bang into his rear. And i think you really got inferior complex..... the guy was not being hao lian...... To put it simply, you are the JOKER leh........
Mzrmazda3 6th Gear September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Some people apply the same style (On the hazard light) which is practice on the NS Highway when vision is bad on our roads here and i would say that it would more or less mislead the rear vehicles
Chilli_crab 2nd Gear September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Hazard lights should only be turned on when the car is stationary. As it is moving now, it becomes confusing if he later decides to use the right/left turn signal. Those following him will only see both blinkers on, and not be able to tell which direction he is going to. Whether it is a CTR or a Veyron, he shouldn't drive with hazard lights. Turbonetics 2nd Gear September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 hazard light is to give warning to road users. not for stationary vehicles only. when a car infront of me ON his hazard light while driving,i will take precautious measures to keep a further distance.so even if he make a turn,i will still be safe. so how about those who turn without signalling?isn't it very common? Achtung 6th Gear September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 It is a big problem bro. Hazard lights are turned on if the car has problems and will become stationary. It sends out wrong signals and may cause people to overtake. i don't see any problem with that.i guess he just want people to drive slowly and carefully. do you confirm it is a real CTR? Don't be so ho-lian.... drive CTR only..not Veyron. Peace. 1. For those who frequent the North, we are aware that turning on hazard lights is really a standard protocol during a heavy downpour or when visibility is low. 2. In SG, hardly such heavy downpour and I don't see it confusing to use hazard lights in SG when there is a heavy downpour. At least, it catches your attention and make you more cautious when approaching the vehicle and you will tend to slower down too. Just my 2 cents worth. Bennking Neutral Newbie September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 I remembered driving on the road one day.. and someone from traffic watch conveyed the message to motorist not to turn on the hazard light despite heavy downpour. on your head/tail lights should suffice. Chilli_crab 2nd Gear September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Would you not agree that hazard lights on a moving vehicle is more confusing than hazard lights on a stationary vehicle? Yes, they could give advance warning of obstacles on road if turned on appropriately. But to leave them on while driving may not be the safe way. I'm sure you will also agree that those who turn without signalling, be it in rain or otherwise, are morons, but the TS is talking about driving with hazard lights. Galantspeedz Turbocharged September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 not frequent but there are very heavy downpour in SG once a while. And i appreciate those that on the hazard light becuz there are times i really can't see the front at all.... I duno abt others but i happened to be caught in these type of torrential rain along the ECP a few times.
Chevycavy 1st Gear September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Does anyone know for sure what the official word is regarding the use of hazard lights during heavy rain? From my understanding it can only be used why stationary. Remembered TP clarified once but I can't confirm. Can anyone?
Turbonetics 2nd Gear September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 i think this is quite subjective a topic. however,it is not a big matter afterall.
Turbonetics 2nd Gear September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 yes, sometimes the downpour in singapore can be very heavy. i think it is around the corner. when the time comes,i will be very worry for my toddler seating behind. i can drive slow and safe, but i can't guarantee on other drivers. sometimes hazard light really helps. Galantspeedz Turbocharged September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 then if heavy rain and the front is hardly visble how? all suddenly stop? rules are rules but sometimes there should be flexibility in it. Same goes for foglights. Foglights are used in heavy rain but that is so you can see the front, so maybe i should face my foglight upwards instead so i can see the front? Galantspeedz Turbocharged September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 if u have a toddler behind, the more i feel the hazard should be on. I would not want to risk someone banging into the rear and god knows what happen... but well, some SGporeans rule say A means A cannot A+ or A-... no matter how many million rules there are, we ourselves are responsible for our own safety. I am not gonna endanger myself just because of some rules. Some will say i will endanger others instead. but then again, lets face it, i aim to protect myself and my family first and foremost and not others. ↡ Advertisement
