I bought the N95 one week ago, the GPS is really hopeless. Takes about 5mins to log-on for signal in open space. Called Nokia careline a few times, the explaination is it depends on satellite signal strengh; told me last resort is to reload firmware, did that but no improvement.

If I'm wrong, the firmware version is .016, maybe the 0.015 is better for GPS??? Any advise.

Do you switch on the A-GPS?

Thanks.

yours is 8GB version or another?

A-GPS only help a bit..but where got (Free) internet access on the road, so I didn't bother..

Mine can log on quite fast.. think it's less than a minute when in the car.. when outside, without blockage, it's faster.

try doing it outside your car and see if it's any difference..

My grouse is more on the Map.. [:/]

Also got the n95 at $398, last year Nov from Singtel, without tradein & opt for the iOne plus at $25+/mth, 2-yr contract. Change from M1 to Singtel because of this offer.

What I know is that this promo was supposed to go on for a week but was sold out on the 2nd day.

N95 and N95 8GB is only 240x320. Sometimes I do use my N95 8GB as GPS. The fix time is quite acceptable to me.

Mine is 8GB version. Even when I point the damn thing outside with window down, by the road side in open space/road still does not help, very frustrating!

Any idea what is your firmware version?

N95 is definitely the "IT" phone for now. Best all rounder, even though it has been around for quite a while. I think once you buy an N95 - Easy to resist temptation to upgrade so easily.

Try to upgrade your firmware to 20.0.016.

Batt life improve, i charge every 4 days(left with 1/2bar), 30sms/day, 10 calls/day. GPS once a blue moon.

GPS pickup fast, but in "cold mode", take abt 10mins.

"Warm mode" abt 1~5min, depend on sky....

My friend holding one he say the GPS not very stable, always disconnect from the signal and takes a long time to reconnect.

No really .... been using it since it was 1st released .... very stable with firmware V20.0.015 GPS connection very fast .... never disconnect on me before

understand that there is a fee for GPS usage right? But why is free for using Mapking on HTC phone? only need to pay for Mapking license.
