Bentwy Neutral Newbie September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 the main problem of the 'code' here is that charitable organisations are tax exempt. MANY of these megachurches, do not really publish their financial statements (which is required by law), NOR do they give their huge surpluses to anything we consider a charity. the largest expenditure these churches have is salary for pastors and staff. this is an issue that has been around for decades. nobody says much because it's 'religion'. megachurches being detrimental to a youth's growth, i think, is quite a seperate issue from it's legal uncompliance. Nolicense Turbocharged September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 well, if this was a pyramid marketing scheme, those at the bottom of the pyramid feed the top. the money raised is for "good" causes like mission trips or in NKF case, kidney patients. youth being affected and legal compliance are separate issues i agree, but do you remember when NKF made use of kids to get donations and the kid with the most donations get prizes? i'm more concerned about the morality issue. ultimately the legal compliance is the only tool the gahmen can use as a proxy to watch dog these moral issues, just to keep their noses clean so to speak. Bentwy Neutral Newbie September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 yes i would agree with you. though they are seperate issues, i too am very concerned about how megachurches demand of their younger members. i have seen for myself teens who are totally indoctrinated and lose sight of their own 'worldly' responsibilities and sensibilities. moreover, the behaviour and motivations of many leaders of these churches have been, in my opinion, extremely suspect. Curahee 1st Gear September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 School do not allow 'recruitment activities' but apparently some of such activities are going on 'discreetly' without the management of school knowing..this is wat I heard from some friends...can't name the church here, of cos for obvious reasons.. My sis in sec sch, her class got 2 radical tat force ppl to convert. Even teacher trying to educate them to respect other religion, they dun seem to agree and continue with their actions. Even in class participation, everything is link to their god and tat affect the teaching imo. I think that the ppl tat brain wash them is the culprit, preying on young innocent mind is too much. Kaer Neutral Newbie September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 I did not criticize, I was merely asking and would like to know. But like how I asked my friends who attend those churches too and gotten the same reply like you did (instead of explaining, think otherwise) so I rest my case here but my disclaimer still stand. Maybe I should ask in a nicer way so you wouldn't think am criticizing. Then again, posts in this threads... there.
Weichien Clutched September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 It may sound weird but from administration point of view it makes sense. Coz those people who collect the money every sun are volunteers too, and imagine they have to carry huge amounts every sun to the bank. just to let u know in case you don't know. there is cisco carrying the money right from the church to the bank and all professional audited.
