Dm318 Neutral Newbie December 11, 2007 Share December 11, 2007 Ya, parallels' 3D support is lacking at this juncture. Their 3D support is limited to certain games, etc. Even so, the performance has loads of room for improvement. If office apps are all you run, then the current parallels work really well with XP. Personally, I would suggest skipping Vista on parallels. Vista's a resource hog and it is visibly slower than XP (I'm running both Vista and XP on my MacBook as parallels VMs). Weichien Clutched December 11, 2007 Share December 11, 2007 i just bought my macbook 13 inch less then 2 month ago. in 1st nov after getting advice from some mac pros here in mcf. after getting it i immediately regret it. but now it's a different story. it's WOW. i will never want to use windows again. seems hard to use but after u use it, it's so easy to use. nobody will regret getting a mac. or apple product

Elfenstar 3rd Gear December 11, 2007 Share December 11, 2007 All the Maccies are talking . I've used both, and ended up using windows as it suited my apps more. One of my good friends is in graphics design and uses both. Mac for stills, PC for 3D. I'm prolly switching to Linux-Vista dual-boot on my next laptop. I remembered there used to be a XvsXP site and managed to find it... here's their new "Mac vs Windows" comparisons site. It should help in your decision. http://www.macvswindows.com/index.php?titl...ows_Comparisons Overall I found Mac to be a lot easier to use (although I'm still giving windows the thumbs up for the simplicity of its gui rather than the showboating of the mac), but the lack of compatibility back then made me decide on windows. I find that Vista has almost caught up, while Mac's even with emulators (or whatever they're now called) still lags behind. The speed advantage that Mac's had is pretty much non-existent in top end systems now. I read a review a few mths back benchmarking speeds and they found that a top end vista PC vs a top end mac ended up being pretty similar (pretty much the same intel CPU). The main difference was that the mac wasn't as quick in multiple processing while the PC was slower in heavy-duty single processing. To be honest, if i could get rid of windows I would, unfortunately there isn't any other platform that has such strong external software support. If you want cool, I say go linux as that is the real cool not the wannabe macs */me puts on flame retardent suit* The main reason i love linux is that you can upgrade your system as easily as a PC yet everything runs as smoothly as a Mac, with external software support between that of windows and mac and cost wise everything is cheaper than the other two. If you want to evalutate linux, google it and you should be able to find a version that runs from your CD rom to give it a try. Also linux has emulators for both windows and macs... hows that for all in one
Comfy 1st Gear December 11, 2007 Share December 11, 2007 hey, i sorta agree with u... i use only mac currently.. but if anyone would to show me something better and better ease of usage, i will jump boat straight away.. i used to be on dual platform just like u, after i change my workflow, i switch completely to mac. i see it more of a choice then a fanboy. have u tried the new osX leopard?? i'm still on tiger now. i have tried linux too but it doesn't suit me especially the lack of a few certain softwares i crucially need for work. Chromas 1st Gear December 12, 2007 Share December 12, 2007 When I first got my Powerbook G4 (now known as MacBook Pro), I actually put up for sale after 3 days of frustration with it. Now, I simply can't live without it and am contemplating getting a 24" iMac to compliment the usage at home. Even part of my home entertainment system is a Apple TV which gets my guests going "ooooohhhhhh.... aaaaaahhhhh..."

I was trying to give the mac uses a bit of sh|t for fun I feel that at the end of it all, the choice should lie firstly in which platform allows us to run our applications, followed by how well. everything else should come after if not we're sure to regret it. The biggest problem with linux right now IMHO is that each version is different from the others which means I shouldn't generalise on it ↡ Advertisement
