Thanks bro...I think mapking will send updates via email to those who bought the GPSmile 4.3" model cos there is a registration form tt one is required to fax over with email address. Whenever there's update, they'll inform u to go to their website to dl [:)]

Next is the question on routes. The Holux have "recommended" route, "motorway" route, "shortest" route, etc. but it doesn't have the "fastest" or "Highway" route. Do u know if the "recommended" route is the "fastest" and "highway" route? [flowerface]

I noe lah but the route that you click have diff. leh.

The previous GPS that I used took me thru all the lorongs at landed estates to reach my destination when i clicked "shortest route" mode and the same GPS set brought me thru major expressways when I clicked "fastest route" mode. Basically, the silly set will plot a designated route for you depending on the mode you chose.

Ok I just bought a 2nd hand 55 and this is based on 2 days usage and comparing wiht my old IPAQ 6965 with Garmin QUE and Malsing Maps. Pros [ol] [*]Satellite lock must faster, cold start lock took about 30 seconds. That means before i drove off the unit got a lock on. My old one needs to be driven out of the carpark before it will lock on. And yes my AGPS is always updated. [*]CTE in the direction of AYE, enter Kampong Java tunnel will sure lose signal but once you exit it will reacquire signal within 4 seconds. [*]MapKing navigation much improved. My old 6965 came loaded with Mapking as well and it gave weird instructions and even told me to make a U Turn in the middle of PIE sweatdrop.gif Almost all of its instructions matches with my own driving route. [*]Speed delta (actual and device indicated speed) is 5KM/H versus my old one nearly 10 KM/H, so the turning instructions will be more accurate [*]Very easy to use, almost as good as the TOM TOM that i have used in Europe, regradless TOM TOM still king. If you don't switch maps you will only need 2 buttons, Destination and POI. [*]Buttons are large enough that you do not need to use the stylus and able to use on the go, not that i recommend it wink.gif [*]Search can use postal codes and building names. [*]SLA MapKing maps is very detailed and accurate. [*]Malsing Maps are included and they are presented in MapKing format which shows width of roads rather than just a line. This is important to me as it will show you true roads configuartions especially like round abouts.[/ol] Cons [ol] [*]Malsing Maps for Malaysia and Singapore not integrated, that means Malaysia maps just stop short of the border and you will have to switch maps. Option is to use the MapKing Singapore maps which includes JB (not that detailed though) [*]Off satellite planning does not show enough information which make trip planning slightly difficult[/ol] So in short i am happy with what i have bought.

Hi Brother Buzz,

Thank you so much for your detailed feedback as these information give me more confident to get a unit toward this IT Show in Suntec.

Hopefully they have one booth there.

I went to Expo yesterday(Sunday) and Popular was having their Mega Sale fair there too...Besta brand, http://www.besta.com.sg/products/gps88.html was pushing their GPS.

The only difference from Holux 55Cl is that they have inbuilt Dictionary in English, Mandarin and Malay.

Specification wise is almost the same as Holux and they are also using MapKing Software too. Price at $599 with 1GD SD Card.

But, when i go Challenger Parkway, they showed me the Holux 55Cl and only have Singapore map in the SD Card.

Kind of septicle over if they have included the Malaysia Map too....

I've got Holux 55 CL 4.3" from eastgear last week.

It's come with mapking software, sla singapore maps, sla singapore & malaysia map, and all of malsing singapore and malaysia maps.

The user interface is much easier to navigate then my PPC mapking version and garmin.

The sla singapore maps is really good, much better then garmin singapore maps or malsing maps. I can locate everyone of my customers factory all around singapore.

Malsing malaysia maps is better then mapking malaysia maps, this will be great for my drive to genting [thumbsup]

Well, the thing i hope they will add into the software next time is more maps for diffrence countries, road traffic information etc.

Overall, i find it a good buy. Now my OC is happy. [:)]

how much u get it....sounds a very good buy. make me "Gian" [laugh]

oh wait, I was actually asking xtraun, not you sam.. I know your holux can la [:|]

Hi Adrian,

I read it from someone in forum. maybe it was not accurately reflected. I heard the latest Malsingmap gold edition can. I wan get but not sure how to contribute lei. Anyone can help me?? Also the new Garmin map can also search by postal code too right?

Frankly, if one is good enuff, can combine Jerome JB/Sin map into Malsing gold edition map to give the best ever map.

opps. [smash]

Anyway, I had the same problem when I brought a garmin 200 for my wife to use.

She had a hard time using it to search for address.

I personally still use garmin, but I guess you need someone who is tacky to use the garmin correctly. [laugh]

go for gold edition malsing or jerome, she will smile

With so many models being offered during the IT shows makes me wonder if all of them comes from the same source. Much like HTC building almost all the smart phones in the world. tongue.gif

Nope! major players like Garmin is a US brand (though most probably manufactured in China but definitely designed by themselves), Holux is from Taiwan and Tibo is from Korea. Then there are other less known models here like Tom Tom is from US, Marbella is from Taiwan which all uses different map like MapKing, MalSingMap and Agis, all are different.
