For S80, 'respect' can only mean 'dignified'! [laugh][laugh][laugh] I'm sure you're still young at heart and doesn't mind an occasional burst of speed.

180 bhp is very respectable liow. Not blistering fast but enough to chiat many other unsuspecting 2L saloon. [laugh] What you're looking for is confident overtaking, which your car will definitely accord you. In fact, I think you have plenty of torque by 2000rpm! [thumbsup]

Cheers!

Of course lah, sometime want to chiat other ppl lah. Some motorist very ya ya type, hao lien. However, pick up less than my previous 96 Audi A6. This one is fun. V6 2.6L NA though. But engine noisy like hell. Good pickup though. Car damn solid. Scrapped last yr.

Bounce something off you. I looked high and low for the trip computer. Can not find leh. Is it possible this was an option only? Supposedly there is this knob on the Right/left signal shaft which can activate/check trip computer. But mine is the solid shaft, ie no knob or reset button as described in the manual. Possible to add? Expensive?

Hi Sf

The trip computer is on the left signal stalk, it's like a ring on the stalk, turn it and it tells you the current and average fuel consumption, average speed, distance you can dive with your remaining fuel. Informantion will appear in the window of the dash board, the same window that that shows the tel number when you make a call via the built in GSM phone. Your car should have it as it should be standard option on all S80 so no need to add.

Hi,

Recall in one of our bro's V40, the trip computer button is on the headunit but dunno if S80 same concept. Suggest you call SM if in doubt.

Hi Sf

I believe that you have the Hu601 RDS, radio with built in CD player and cassette player. Your best bet is ask SM how much is it to add the CD changer which can be installed in the luggage compartment. You can ask an outside installer if they can fix one for you and compare quotes. If you are a into ICE, you can upgrade to the HU 801 RDS radio with built in 4 cd changer + (10 CD changer in luggage compartment, optional I think ) and it's got Dolby surround Pro Logic system, 9 speakers, seperate 4 x 50 W amps. The sound is really GOOD.

That was what I tot! That ring is missing and it is just a solid stalk ie the Reset button that is supposed to be there is also not there. I will have to send to SM to take a look. Perhaps I could take a snap shot and let bros here comment...

not sure abt the s80 but the trip computer may require an new integrated stalk as part of the overall installation. my orig signal stalk was also replaced wif an integrated cruise control one.

Hi SF

This is how it should look like. Mine has got grooves on them but generally they should look like this. What year is your car? I believe that this is a standard option even on a 2.0T and if it's not on there, something is not right.

Bro...

i think yours is without the S80....judging from your 80 age.....heard that at that time its an option. I checked with SM, to add trip computer is around $900+ includes labour for a s60....guess it shud not be far off for an s80

$1.5k is expensive, did you see whether Superchip's website have the Volvo 2.0T engine listed?

Try emailing Upsolute or even Superchips Australia, get a quote from them and compare.

Another place to look at is http://www.samsteffansson.se/samindex.html, they have ECU reprogramming service for S80 2.0T, but it's more expensive compared to the T6 ECU mod as the 2.0T is rare. (specially made for road tax heavy markets like Sillypore) [shakehead]

Sigh! Pocket dry already after the S80 purchase. It is not a critical option. Good to have. Actually quite unbelievable for such a car not to have it std. Even my ex-Ford Mondeo 98 model has it. Perhaps some paper and a calculator will work too? hahaha!

It is a Aug/2001. Nope , it definetly does not look like the pic. Now very sure, this car got no trip computer. My signal stalk has no movable ring or reset button. At least I don't need to look for it anymore. Thanks everyone!

The UK price is abt 511 lbs which works out to close to the 1.5k also. The UK website listed the S60 and S40. The S80 is listed as the T6. I suppose the S60 engine is the same as the S80?

Upsolute is cheap relatively. Probably around S$700-800 after conversion from Euro. Emailed them and they responded. Only problem is I'd have to send them the ecu which at the moment I don't feel too gungho abt as I lose the use of the car, and the risk of any cockup. What if when u get back the ecu , u plug it in, and nothing happens? Car is dead? Send back again? Not a very comforting tot isn't it?

Also wrote to the M'sian rep for Superchips. They are actually in Kuching/Sarawak. No reply yet. Perhaps just be patient and see what other alternatives pops up. Some forums didn't rate Superchips highly although some other tuners do use it but private labeled it.

You can try Heico, German Volvo tuners. Heard that they are good but expensive.

They have a ECU upgrade for the 2.0T but to get the most out of it, it's better to change the exhuast system as well. Autovox has been appointed as Heico local distributors. Why don't you contact them. heico site is www.heicosportiv.de

With a local distributor, at least you have an assurance if anything goes wrong with the ECU and the S80 ecu is pretty problementic. I have mine changed once already.

Good luck.
