[Official] 2023 / 2024 Volvo EX30

This compact electric SUV will be even smaller than the XC40, with an estimated dimensions of 4.2m (L) x 1.8m (W) x 1.6m (H).

Design wise, the line between products from Volvo and Polestar is getting blurry, and can see that the rear windscreen is very narrow (by SUV standard), again compromising practicality for aesthetic appeal...

Another lifestyle EV car.

Does it come with an automatic weapon or AK47 and bulletproof vest? In case you need it to fight over a charging port.

@Carbon82 Wowo got give u small rear windscreen is considered heng liao, Polestar 4 they don't even bother to give you one 🤣

Polstar should make the rear screen as optional. How bad it is when one has the money cannot even have the rear windscreen. 😏

The 2024 EX30 Promises To Have The Lowest Carbon Footprint Of Any Volvo So Far

Recycled materials, and smart manufacturing will make the 2024 EX30 the greenest Volvo ever.

Beyond being safe in crashes, Volvo now also wants its vehicles to be safer for the planet. The automaker now claims that the upcoming EX30 will have the smallest carbon footprint of any vehicle it has ever produced.

The Swedish company estimates that over the course of a 200,000 km lifetime, the 2024 EX30 will be responsible for less than 30 metric tons of CO2 emissions (using the current European electric grid). That’s around 25 percent less than the C40 and XC40 EVs it currently produces.

The real advantage the EX30 has over its forebears is in its design and construction. Volvo has used optimization to simply reduce the amount of material used in the car. Employing the old racecar trick of making each component perform as many tasks as possible, the vehicle can use less material, making it less carbon-intensive and lighter, as well.

The materials that couldn’t be cut out were made less environmentally taxing. Roughly 25 percent of all the aluminum and 17 percent of the steel used in the vehicle are recycled. In addition, 17 percent of the plastics on and in the EX30 will be recycled, too.

That’s the highest percentage of reused plastics ever in a Volvo vehicle. But it doesn’t stop there. The automaker has opted for recycled and renewable materials in the upholstery for the doors, dashboard, and seats.

Customers will be able to choose from flax, wool, and denim interiors that use 70 percent recycled polyester. The denim, in particular, is green because not only does it use recycled material, it uses scraps that can’t be reused to make pants because they’re too small.

Volvo estimates that by the time the EX30 reaches the dealership, it will have been responsible for just 18 tons of CO2, with the other 12 or so tons coming from the electricity used to power the vehicle. And when customers are done with it, 95 percent of its materials are designed to be reused, while the remaining five percent can be used for energy generation.

“Our new EX30 is a big step in the right direction for our sustainability ambitions,” said Anders Kärrberg, our Global Head of Sustainability. “By 2025, we aim to reduce our overall CO2 emissions per car by 40 percent from 2018 levels through a 50 percent reduction in overall tailpipe emissions, and a 25 percent reduction in emissions from our operations, raw material sourcing and supply chain – all on the way towards our ambition of being a climate-neutral company by 2040.”

Between this an a 1.5 Evo cylinder deactivation engine from Vag group. I think the IcE engine still is a better deal ..

The all-electric Volvo EX30 is here as the brand's smallest SUV – and electric vehicle – to date. Offering a more city-friendly and affordable alternative to the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge electric SUVs, the Volvo EX30 is the brand's first premium subcompact SUV and fourth all-electric model.

It will be priced from $34,950 in the US, where it is available for pre-order now, and around 36,000 euros in Europe, with Volvo saying the pricing is similar to an internal combustion engine-powered SUV of the same size.

The EX30 is 4,233 millimeters long, 1,837 mm wide, and 1,555 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. Volvo says the EX30's chassis has been tuned to make the most of the car's compact dimensions, its low center of gravity and relatively low and evenly distributed weight – its minimum curb weight is 1,830 kg.

Inside, the EX30 features a minimalist Scandinavian interior design mixed with cutting-edge tech. The dashboard features a 12.3-inch single-screen infotainment system at its center and a soundbar covering the entire upper portion of the dash under the windshield – a first of its kind in a car.

Tech highlights include a digital key compatible with a wide range of phone brands and models, dedicated app offering all relevant services related to the car (charging, location, locking/unlocking, and heating), and latest generation of the Park Pilot Assist feature. The latter is said to handle all types of parking spaces, including parallel, curved, perpendicular and diagonal fishbone-style.

When it comes to the interior design, customers can choose between four distinct interior themes and five different ambient lighting themes – each paired with an ambient soundscape.

Under the skin, Volvo offers EX30 customers two powertrain options in the US, dubbed Single Motor Extended Range and Twin Motor Performance. The former pairs a rear-mounted electric motor rated at 268 horsepower (200 kilowatts) and 343 Newton-meters of torque with an extended-range battery with a usable capacity of 64 kilowatt-hours.

The battery has NMC chemistry (lithium, nickel, manganese, and cobalt) and enables the EX30 Single Motor Extended Range to offer an estimated 360 kilometers of range between charges.

The EX30 Twin Motor Performance adds a front electric motor for AWD capability and a total output of 422 hp (315 kW) and 543 Nm of system torque. That's enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds, making the EX30 Twin Motor Performance Volvo's fastest-accelerating production car ever.

It has landed on our shore. Despite being a compact SUV (just 4.23m long and 1.83m wide), the amount of interior space (except leg space in the rear) is even better than the larger Polestar 2 (4.6m x 1.9m). The feel is like in the original mini, as minimalistic design is evident, which help to create the space needed. Despite looking like a SUV in press photos (probably due to the proportion), it feel more like hatchback on high heel in metal.

Too bad the price (~$249K) is not as low as initial estimate (~$200K), else would have a good chance to snack some sales from other EVs...

The HK sound bar is really quite impressive but the leg space at the rear cmi.

As I have posted earlier, the EX30 feel more like a hatchback on high heel and too you siew (tame) for a SUV. Volvo hear that (not from me of course) and here come the 2025 EX30 Cross Country.
