Xefera 6th Gear April 15, 2008 Share April 15, 2008 (edited) maybe the uncle also had a frustrating day so pick u as the target to vent off on a more serious note, in such situations, most drivers will think that the car in front is trying to "cheat" by moving forward fast in an empty lane, then cut in at the last minute. i am guilty of such moves sometimes, but also kena a few retributions before Edited April 15, 2008 by Xefera
Sfhuang Clutched April 15, 2008 Share April 15, 2008 Just want to rant a bit... Not too pissed but just feel that traffic can be much smoother... I use the PIE (Changi Airport) and exit at Lornie Road exit to get to Sin Ming Road. There are 2 lanes at first but it merges into a single lane. Can I please plead for the drivers who uses that road to just merge into a single file according to the lane markings? Don't you think it's quite dumb to "compete" with each other only to result in an accident whereby the cars brush each other? The traffic will definitely be smoother if everyone just merge. The exit into Lornie road is only so wide so come on... Okie... Feel better now... It's the same situation at PIE exit to CTE (Towards AMK).

Sfhuang Clutched April 15, 2008 Share April 15, 2008 Actually I don't quite understand the congestion also. if you notice, the exit into Lornie road actually has its own lane on the leftmost of the 4 lane road. So if everyone is to slowly filter out into this lane, then there is no need for excessive slowing down and jostling In fact, those who are too eager to get to the front normally would find themselves stuck at the exit as they are on the wrong side of the exit. Actually LTA only needs to place a line of concrete blocks along the lane marker after the exit to assure drivers that nobody's going to cut into that 4th lane from the right. Traffic will then be smoother isn't it.
Osiris 1st Gear April 15, 2008 Share April 15, 2008 Bro, I am using that road everyday. IIRC Last time it used to be 2 lanes. It is now merge to 1 with chevron drawn. I haven't seen an accident due to side swiping. The exit is wide enough for 2 lanes traffic since they didn't narrowed the road. Only when there is light traffic, people merge to 1 lane. But of coz sometime will have hero trying to cut in.

Typhoonz 4th Gear April 15, 2008 Author Share April 15, 2008 I'm not too sure about any side swiping incidents... Hasn't happened yet but if things continue to go one, sure to happen one... This is just a plea to all who uses that road to just merge and make the exit into Lornie Road smoother...

Enzomatrix 2nd Gear April 15, 2008 Share April 15, 2008 the lornie road one is lousy design, from 2 lane become one lane nvm, the lane is so huge and they do chervon markings on the side and people normally just drive on the damn chervon markings. Osiris 1st Gear April 15, 2008 Share April 15, 2008 Bro, i use the road during evening peak hr. there's no way people will let u merge. instead every1 seems happy to have 2 lanes
Ncp91 1st Gear April 15, 2008 Share April 15, 2008 Normally in a merge lane situation I would use my signals to indicate my intentions to take up the whole lane when the two lanes run out into one. 80% of the time the car "competing" with me will back off because I will also have tucked the front of my car right behind the car(s) in front. These two indications are usually sufficient to ensure a smooth merge. Of course, not getting let in isn't a big deal, you just end up one or two cars back only. And sooner or later you have to stop at a traffic light anyway.

Typhoonz 4th Gear April 16, 2008 Author Share April 16, 2008 Yup... But it's the frustration of wanting to merge but end up being forced to move forward with the 2 lines of traffic in a narrowing lane... Out of 10 times of indicating my intention, I got only 50% success rate of cars moving back... ↡ Advertisement
