Niteblu Neutral Newbie April 16, 2008 Share April 16, 2008 Hmmmm. You have a misconception that Drum = Slow Car. And that Rear Disc = Fast Car. Sorry man. It doesn't apply anymore. Not when rear disc brakes can be cheaply manufactured by the Koreans. And Thais...

YellowFlash Clutched April 16, 2008 Share April 16, 2008 theres 2 versions of celica, ss1 and ss2 both comes with 1.8L cept ss1 is the lower spec that produces 140hp, equipped with rear drums. the ss2 comes with 185hp+/- due to the similar technology used in honda's vtec. called the VVTL-I. rear disc brakes as well, but then i dun think there are many ss2 around. Rtth84 1st Gear April 16, 2008 Share April 16, 2008 rear drum cars really cannot make it. even old EG civic have all round discs
Qpik Supercharged April 16, 2008 Share April 16, 2008 for this car, u dont even need to zhng it is already very nice. how compare to altis/vios?
Bearbear1494 Clutched April 17, 2008 Share April 17, 2008 Yah man. Even my dad's old 1978 Merc 200 also all-discs. No lah, seriously, I believe that for certain cars (sports coupes included), drum brakes are sufficient for the rear. Probably due to lighter weight, less horsepower etc etc. Not to mention lower production costs. In any case, I've friends who own heavily modded cars still running on rear drums (albeit with uprated hoses & brake shoes) that can still brake faithfully & true even with the huge hike in HP. Depends on the car's setup I guess.
Jerms Clutched April 17, 2008 Share April 17, 2008 how come you all have an idea that fast car means need disc brake? or good cars must have disc brake? Its totally not true......

Slayer Clutched April 17, 2008 Share April 17, 2008 hmm.. u sounded as if the drum brake is not good enough in a celica? what do u think, is rear disc brake an over kill on the some other cars? :) Hey bros, i just happen to see this toyota celica today. it look nicely zhang and stuff. however the rear brake are drums . even altis and vios have rear disk brakes. a sport coupe have rear drum break anyone noe now much is its bhp??? is it fast? Leepee 1st Gear April 17, 2008 Share April 17, 2008 (edited) Rear Brake drum means a joke? Just look at most of the buses and lorries....front and rear also drum brake...thoes are really jokers then. If drum brakes can stop a 10-tonne trailer...then it can also stop a 1ton celica! Edited April 17, 2008 by Leepee ↡ Advertisement
