Apollo 1st Gear April 30, 2008 Share April 30, 2008 Dot 4 Dot 5 no issue... just remember to replace them ard 1-2 year interval, keep the remaining fluid in a store and top up if necessary. stick to same brand and not mix them due to different chemical composition may hv adverse reaction, as not all fluid are created alike. but use masking tape to seal it tight. the fluid is hydroscopic (can become moist easily), mark date of use. discard the remaining fluid after the 2 yr period even though properly sealed. Fluid is best done at a place where mechanical vacumming is used. i suggest at stamford tyre since they r inexpensive. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
Kieran1975 1st Gear May 1, 2008 Share May 1, 2008 hahaha.... Just changed my brake pads (Toyota) and SPC DOT4 oil at WS in Yishun... Total damaged: $135. The mech told me that it is not necessary to change the brake oil unless there is a leak or brake not jiat after changed brake pads. Same goes to the ATF Filter and Fuel Pump Filter. I was intend to do change on my 80K service. His reason, most car will be sold off within 5 yrs and japs car can tahan for 5yrs just need to do the normal engine oil, ATF, spark plugs and oil filter change will do.... Anyway he did quite a good job in replacing my brake oil using vacuum to suck out all the old oil and replaced with new oil. Not those drain and top up method. Eatniddle Neutral Newbie May 16, 2008 Share May 16, 2008 if you see the drop of your brake fluid which mean your brake pad is going to ware out. sometime we need to monitor the fluid level. and if you notice the drop it telling you that it time to replace the brake pad. just some word of advice for safety. cheers.
