Truck overturned at Sliproad to CTE (with Pics)

just to share. Was entering the CTE towards city via the sliproad along Yio Chu Kang road this morning when I saw a overturned truck a few cars in front of me. Traffic along the sliproad was at a stand-still. Reason being that the truck has blocked almost the whole road, leaving a gap that only a trishaw can pass through.

This sliproad was particularly long, maybe 200m or so, and has 2 entrances. Therefore, you can imagine the jam. Being at the front of the jam, and having no way to go through, a brave taxi mounted the kerb using his right tyres, and squeezed his way through. See the picture. You can still see the cab driving off. I was not going to risk my car on the kerb, and had to reverse all the way out of the sliproad. A few other cars copied the taxi's great escape, but I wondered how many made it through safely.

Of note, I would like to praise a gentleman in a green polo shirt, driving a black Peugeot. He helped to divert the traffic out of the sliproad, and even stayed on to prevent more vehicles from entering even after all the vehicles have left. I know cos I was at the front of the jam, therefore to reverse out, I would be one of the last to leave. He was still there diverting the traffic then.

This is the 2nd guy to try his luck at mounting the kerb after the premier taxi...

He faces the risk of tilting to hit the truck, damaging his bumper, scratching his undercarriage, or getting totally stuck on the kerb.

They probably dont know that taxi drivers get special "kerb training"...

Take a look at the "kerb training" boot camp conducted for Prime taxis.

if u had a shot of the taxi mounting or dismounting the kerb, the shot will be worthy of publication in the papers. print edition, not stomp hor [thumbsup]

recently seems like quite a no of goods and heavy vehicles involved in accident. either turned turtle, spilled goods on roads and even caused accident to pedestrians. Sometimes you can really seen those heavy vehicles travelling at 80kmh on expressways. no wonder some of them overturned cos moving too fast.

most of the normal car would be able to mount kerb and drive off without any problem...

unless the kerb is very high.
