Kb27 Supersonic August 28, 2008 Share August 28, 2008 If you read BITOG forum, it might change your mind about engine oil. Avoid putting any "extra" treatment to engine oil. Most engine oil has their own additive package to protect the engine, and is cat safe. By putting in extra treatment, you don't know how the chemistry is going to react. If it's reaching the end of useful life like 10k as you mentioned. It would be better to change it out, rather than putting in some unknown... Just bcoz you hear the name of STP too many times, does not mean it is good for everything. ↡ Advertisement
Jamjammer Neutral Newbie August 28, 2008 Share August 28, 2008 I'm no expert also, just that I prefer fuel treatment in the petrol tank to clean whatever impurities inside thru' fuel combustion. I dont think it's a good idea to mix up all the engine oils as the rojak oil could backfire. Hey, all petrol should have more of these cleaning addictives so that our engine is cleaned everything we luk the engine!

Gim_ong Neutral Newbie August 28, 2008 Share August 28, 2008 maybe should try out or experiment then can know.... according to what I know.. only V-power or Caltex platinum have. (correct me if I am wrong) V-power is too ex.... I normally dun put But. sometimes i pump 98 ... I know.. the power surge ... then at half tank .... I power some OCTANCE booster from STP then still got better effect. small power surge. Cleaning agent the fuel injector cleaner ,... they say have... the petrol station techtron advertise also have. but .. I also dun know how true... just that.. i will do clean with fuel injector from time to time sometimes 5000 Km ... sometimes 10 000 km done.
Jamjammer Neutral Newbie August 28, 2008 Share August 28, 2008 Thanks for your advice. I'm not so concerned on power surge as I'm a not chiongster, though this is a bonus for overtaking ability. I'm more concerned on the FC part, esp if the number keep dropping even though driving pattern is consistent. Frankly, I dont believe a single thing about certain "brand" petrol contains cleaning addictive. Even if they have, it's not worthwhile it as driving to me is just point to point, not racing. Therefore I pump only 95, sometimes 92, hahaha...
Chooz Neutral Newbie August 28, 2008 Share August 28, 2008 I used them before and I don't see any measurable effect. Only feel good effect. I am now a firm believer in this: http://www.carbibles.com/fuel_engine_bible.html

Gim_ong Neutral Newbie August 28, 2008 Share August 28, 2008 (edited) After I read the .... Car bible. I conclude I should use Ron 98, my car hand book says 95 + octance. Next thing... the Jap cars and Koreans that is suppose to be for the WEST like EUROPE and US Is different for Asia market. Inside the Jap cars and Koreans car( West Version) . Voltage Stabilizers and Grounding is Not necessary because there is an IN-Built Voltage Stabilizers in them. Hmmmm why ..?. We Asian are not as Demanding? why make a more lousy version for Asian market? the above is what I gather after spending an hour plus of reading Edited August 28, 2008 by Gim_ong
Kb27 Supersonic August 29, 2008 Share August 29, 2008 Caltex contains Technron. Vpower has some kind of cleaning detergent as well. However, the amount of cleaners are very small amount. A greater concentration would be if you pour in Techron Concentrate which is not available here. Techron contains PEA invented by Chevron. http://www.chevron.com/products/ourfuels/p...itives/tcp.aspx Amsoil PI and Redline SI-1 also contains PEA. I would suggest you try them instead. I have good experience with Redline. After using it, I was able to see soft carbon on the spark plug instead of hard carbon. This proves to have some effect on softening and cleaning up the carbon. You don't need octane booster. Just pump the regular octane that your manual tells you. High octane is only needed when your car engine requires it. It doesn't give you extra energy. Jamjammer Neutral Newbie September 5, 2008 Share September 5, 2008 (edited) OK, tank runs empty. Ok, my friend just top up its tank. Mileage is 30km more. Overall, FC is now 10.5km/L compared with 9plus previously. Now the car is back to its "normal" FC of 10 plus. One feedback, exhaust is smelly. Haha, maybe this gunk thingy is a detox for the engine In summary, if this is maintained, then this solutions work. I still think the best is cheong in Msia NSH at least 120km/h using ron 98 or V-power to clean the engine. Try it a few back and now my car's FC is consistently at around 12plus (from previous high of 11plus) - a gain of est 0.5! Albeniz Turbocharged September 24, 2008 Share September 24, 2008 I've tried most brands, but Redex and Preston still tops!! Cheap and good! Managed to locate Redex at Thomson last Sunday. Just poured 1 bottle into the tank and then filled it full with Esso 2000. Monitoring the FC now.

Albeniz Turbocharged September 27, 2008 Share September 27, 2008 Thomson Plaza, there is one big D-I-Y store at level 1. Wait...Don't buy first, I am still monitoring the outcome on FC. Wait for my review!

Albeniz Turbocharged September 29, 2008 Share September 29, 2008 When I pumped Esso 2000, my FC was about 10.5km/L-11.2km/L (before Redex). Immediately after I added 1 bottle of Redex, my FC was still 10.8km/L. No major improvement in FC was seen (yet) but acceleration felt smoother. Still monitoring the coming few tanks. BTW: Shell Vpower would give me 11.8km/L (without Redex).
Redplanet Clutched October 2, 2008 Share October 2, 2008 Thanks. Yup...V-power also gives me about +1 km/L compared to Esso 98. ↡ Advertisement
