Is there a rule to forbid dropping passeger near bus-stop ?

I am just wondering if there is a traffic rule to prohibit a car to stop and drop a passeger near a bus-stop. I have been dropping my wife just in front of a bus-stop where the marking on the side is a double yellow line and is not marked as a bus lane.

Just this morning, an SBS bus was right behind me and the bus driver kept honking at me for stopping my car to drop my wife along a double yellow line about 5 meters in front of the bus-stop. I wonder why ??

ur action simply delayed a bus load of people who may be rushing for time too

u mentioned in the morning, most likely its peak hours.

if i were in the bus, i would be equally pissed too.

totally no consideration.

If i nvr remember wrongly, when i took my thoery to obtain car license

there is a section where they said no stopping (or parking) 3-9 metre from Bus-stop, Fire extinguisher and 1 more (i forgot which one)..

But try not to stop before the bus stop even if no bus lane marking, bcos usually peak hours bus tend to have difficulty in making a lane change.

Edited: i think its better if you stop your car and drop your wife in the bus-stop

front area (where bus also can load & unload passengers) and by the time your

wife gets out of the car, the bus will still be in the process of loading/unloading.

Turbocharged

actually, if u know a bus is behind, u should at least stop and drop off ur wife after the bus stop (if have sufficient gaps, the bus can even divert out from bus stop to continue the journey but most likely u have sufficient time to drop off ur wife comparing with the bus stop for people boarding) and not before which most likely will block the bus from going into the bus stop...... to put it simple, u r at fault this round.. Actually I dropped my wife after the bus-stop but the bus did not need to stop at that bus-stop at that time but continue going.

By the way, the bus-stop is on one lane of the 2-lane road and does not have a turn-in bay. I wonder, since the the authorities set the rule that there shall be no stopping within 9 meters from a bus-stop, why then they still have the double yellow line on the side of the road I stop my car ??
