I always give up my seat for the needy on the MRT. Sometimes I make mistake for woman with big stomach as pregnant woman [dizzy] . When I give up my seat, I will ensure the needy will get my seat.

When I was in Australia doing my degree many many years ago.

One day I was having so many things with me due to project/study needs and when the moment I got up the bus, a young man offered his seat to me immediately, saying that it would be safer for me to sit down since my hands were full.

Back in Sillpore.....wait long long.

true ba. they din hv tat much expectations as compared to our gen today. imagine our 1st hp is a big head kind.

but on the flip side, i think being pregnant isnt comfortable so in small ways tat matters, it would be nice to hv society acknowledging tat thru some acts of kindness. plus, their children will support US when we are old cos they pay taxes.

It is all about setting CORRECT Expectation. The pregnant lady will be a lot happier if she didn't expect someone to give up their seat for her. And if someone really does, it will make her even more happier.

in other countries like aussie, they will gladly give up their seats on own accord, no need write in to stomp or whatsoever to comprain one. Who to blame? society? ourselves? or our parents? [sly]

Personally, "Ask or don't ask for the seat, privilege, pay the same fare, complain" is not how I view it. Rather, from this incident, I am also disappointed in that: Why aren't those seated sensitive about the greater needs for others and be automatic to offer their seats?

So what makes you think, others do not need the seat more than her? So was she sensitive when she complained that no one gave up their seats?

I personally suffer from gout and when a attack comes, it is damn pain.... sitting will make it better as i am not giving any pressure on my leg. But while seated, i look like a normal healthy person.

So who decides who has greater needs?

PS: I do give up my seat to a needy but it is always a privilege and never a MUST.
