Remember, i said i ran out of fuel in the middle of Lentor Avenue? The LTA warden who took down the details of the car plate and my friends' has now sent me a letter saying i got 3 demerit points for cisco for failing to put a breakdown sign and double yellow line charge. The email i wrote is this. Firstly, it was a rented car, now most cars i rented dont even have a breakdown sign in their boot for god knows why. Second, its my first time experiencing this. Next, the fuel gauge for the car i rented is also screwed, sometimes it jumps up from the red area to 2 bars and sometimes it stays there. The low fuel light doesnt even come on. So guys, any chances of having the offence waived?

[furious] wtf.....failing to put a breakdown sign i can understand...but double yellow line charge? the warden already knew ur car broke down....who the hell would know or would wan his/her car to break down on a double yellow line? screw the charges man...i believe u can waive the offence off...preposterous....

Its a private rental from an owner btw.. And yes, i hope this appeal can go through. Was pretty unlucky anyway. I thought the cisco/lta warden wouldnt give me a summon but it still haiz. A picture of the warden here.

pte rental from owner means it's not covered by insurance isn't it? better to just take the points and fine and count yourself unlucky.

seems like its the outsourced certis/ auxiliary warden, they will anyhow throw more charges at you just to earn more commission

I don't know about getting waiver.. last year i kena a summon, where only 1 wheel of my car was on double yellow line, whilst the rest of the car was clear - but still kena. Even after I wrote in twice to appeal, even with photograph to show - still rejected both letters. Sad... [shakehead]

Aiyo ...Like that also can summon ? My Car also no breakdown sign lei ...the most put a pail 10 m behind consider good for me already ... if good citizen ...maybe stand between pail and car to direct traffic.... [laugh]

 

Breakdown sign is a must ? Maybe time to get one already ...*touch wood*

i think fact that ride was along double yellow lines, they dun go into details like one wheel or 2 wheels on it. [:p] unless u have good reasons why u were there, ur chances will be much better

LTA is very neow.. Most likely will reject any appeal.. Since you already send the email, then forget it. Should have consult us first..

 

But now you are disclosing more secrets out.. Rented car from private owner?? Or rather, the word 'borrowed' car is better..

Never ensure fuel tank level, never ensure breakdown signage in car boot.. sound like screwing yourself, right??

 

Sometime, simple letters straight to the point are better.. Like your first time experiencing vehicle breakdown, and thus panic and forget to put sign, blah blah..

 

Also adding words like "IT'S AN HONEST MISTAKE", and "THIS SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED BUT I'M SORRY IT DID" may helps.. Maybe..

Afterall our ministars used these same words before and now they are still there..

yes...sucks... only my back wheel was touching the start of the double line. The rest of the car was in a clear zone.

 

Just in case you guys are wondering where is this special place, it is at the slip road along Chai Chee Drive, opposite the Technopark @ Chai Chee, on top of the hill. It is near to some landed property - i believe the landed property owners must have complained. Lots of cars park there in the daytime everyday.

 

Best joke... after a few weeks of my 2nd appeal letter, they actually reduced the length of the double line by painting it out - so that more cars can park... and I would not have been booked then! Ironies of life.... [rolleyes]

Good idea... and then enclose newspaper clipping of the Minister speech where he use these phrases.. that should convince them the excuse is a good one! Should not have happened ... but it did!
