Luckily your eyes are ok even though flashes can be quite serious.. Heard so much on flashes which really scary. Floaters seems like many people have it le, but if no flashes then should be ok. Thats why it is better to go for annual checkup on eyes, so that the doctor can detect any problem and cure it.

floaters quite common as we aged. flashes mean emergency don't take it lightly. like my case detest early it do help, infact bettered as of now I don't need to wear glasses.

Ya lo, my whole body feel like 60-70s! Like this it means i dont age well. [sweatdrop]

I'm already an old man, and a poor, short and useless one.

ok let me give a bit more details.

it started off with floaters which I ignored. Months later on two separate occasions i experienced flashes. how do i describe it? it feel like the room fluorescent tube dieing soon. flashes..and flashes. Come and go in quick seconds. so i went to the GP. a good GP...hahaha he told me he can write a referral letter to nec but that will be a private patient. on the other hand go polyclinic. Their referral letter is as good as "subsidiary letter" and a shorter waiting time. Yes my GP told me that trick!!!

And so a few days later went to polyclinic. ok Saturday morning. I told the doctor what i have told my GP. The polyclinic doctor scolded me..I should go to A&E immediately. I was like huh??? All along I was feeling OK. So on same day afternoon went to the A&E. seem by the A&E nec doctor. cut it short around evening time the eye doctor open up the nec 4th floor specially for my case to perform an emergency laser (nec close on saturday) on my left eye.

After the op the doctor than explained to me the test detected a slight detachment on my left eye. Which mean i might go blind anytime. That was whybthe emergency lazer. Only then I know the seriousness. Not more yaya papaya. ð

so my love hate relationship with nec started from there. Continue for two years before the doctor senior associate said I can go ahead with the cataract op. That was last year aug/sept(both eyes). After op there are no more tearing when long distance driving. vision as close as to zero for both eyes. no glasses. Yearly check up. By the way, I opted for my left eye to see far ad right eye to see near. So the doctor need to strike a balance. No glasses require. As for driving no problem. infact better than before my cataract op. Hmmm the only slight irritation so call now is the led rear break light..kind of glaring at night. Those bulb type break light no such glaring impact.

one thing to note. I started off as subsidised patient but changed to private status since I opted for specific doctor.ð Price paid worth it. around 13k for both eyes. Waiting times for the op on both eyes only 8 weeks apart. my sister as subsidised patient TTSH waited one and half year. Really sweat for her.

O yes the floater. apparently cannot cant get rid off. However over times your eyesight will get accustom to those floaters.

Take care man.

Eyesight is very important aspect to take care of as people gets older.

I did LASIK in NEC in june 2000. One mth later I went to New Zealand for 6mths LOL

fortunately no major side effects, only night time astigmatism (relatively minor and can still drive w/o glasses). overall no regret as it was convenient for active lifestyle.

a couple of years ago, started to get myopia and astig worsen. Need glasses for night drive.

Many people have floaters as early as in 30s. I feel still better to go for eyes checkup annually once cross certain age, even you think that your eyes have no problem. Many people go for annual body check-up but dont go for eyes checkup.

as for this thread on lasik.

It is normal after lasik to perfect eye-sight, no 'myopia' to compensate 'Presbyopia' 老花 when you aged.

Doctor should have given option for 'mono-vision',  mean one eye perfect and second eye under-correct.   This is reduce the effect of 老花.

I was given the option. In fact i was advised not to correct 100% because as we gets older, 老花 will set in and it will correct the balance.

I didnt correct 100%, but still came out with a 6/6 vision on both eyes.  [laugh]  [laugh]  [laugh]

Hi Good Afternoon to all brothers and sisters here. I am still on assignment

Same as you Bro Kopites. I noticed I've floaters in my right eye and I went to an Eye Specialist for s checkup and was diagnosed with retinal detachment on my both eyes. The Doctor suggested I should do a laser barrier immediately, so I opted for it.

The laser surgery told about 30 mins for both eyes and now I am very much better. I need to go for a review checkup 6 months later.

Yes, the floaters still there but the vision is much clearer now.

The pictures show before and after surgery:

yes bros about the same. retina detachment after flashes... Edited by Kopites

Floaters can lead to retina detachment?

floater won't but flashes do. floaters the primary sign for future flashes.

Doctor said one..not me..

go chat with eye doctor.

Scary sia, if i have floaters meaning i might have flashes in future?!

this what the doc told me.

aging/ excess useage of antibioic eye drop/medication/eye infection etc..might result in floaters over times.

the nec doctor told me. flashes might result in detachment which mean blindness. don't play play. Go see a eye doctor immediately if you experienced flashes. Or you noticed excessive increase in floaters. There are tests to check for detachment.
