Jerry Clutched January 8, 2009 Share January 8, 2009 (edited) Hi guys, My front windscreen seems to have a layer of film or dont know what over it.Can't get it off.The whole windscreen has it and when the wipers swipes over, the windscreen is blur. Tanjkp Clutched January 8, 2009 Share January 8, 2009 If the cause was due to solar (which is installed inside the cabin), no point to wash, rub, polish or even sandpaper it. It is the film that give you the poorer vision. Maybe I am wrong..... If the film was the culprit, means go to find the one who installed it.

Anyone experienced this before and managed to remove it? It might be a different problem, but mine is what I think is called oil stain or silicon stain. It is not visible when the window is dry. You see it when it's damp. It's been bothering for a long time, but the easiest to get rid is some Jap brand of oil stain remover available at Autobacs. At Autobacs Ubi, there is one called Silicon X. You rub the cream on the glass, then buff off.

Jerry Clutched January 9, 2009 Author Share January 9, 2009 Maybe you can snap a pic to let us see so that we can visualize what is the layer of film you are referring to Bro,have tried to snap a picture. But it just dose not show on the pic.Its seems the glass is clear. If the cause was due to solar (which is installed inside the cabin), no point to wash, rub, polish or even sandpaper it. It is the film that give you the poorer vision. Maybe I am wrong..... If the film was the culprit, means go to find the one who installed it. I am not referring to the solar film, its the outside of the windscreen. Change your wipers.. My bosch wipers are quite new, only about 2 weeks old.So doubt its the wipers problem. It might be a different problem, but mine is what I think is called oil stain or silicon stain. Yes bro,i think i have the same problem with you.Exactly like your description.Silicon X?Ok,might go down to autobacs and try to find it.But it does work for your case? Anyone experienced this before and managed to remove it? I had this same problem. Went to detailer and was told it's due build-up from car wash shampoo etc. They did a clean up with claybar, and now my windscreen is as good as new even in the rain. Yes, it works. Silicon X is only sold at Autobacs Ubi, but the other one at B Batok sell different brands but still work. Look for what they tagged as Oil Stain remover. There is a small bottle around $8 different brand. Only thing is, after you clean it up, the stain will come back again in a couple of months. Then it's cleaning again...costs quite a bit of money. I never thought of the shampoo. I just use a cheap shampoo for the whole car. Guess, I should buy a more expensive brand. ↡ Advertisement
