Hmm, cuz my bro owns a beemer and he says the in-car computer stuff is very complicated.

My fren works as a PML technician says the same.

 

My only worry is the maintenance part, can outside workshop do just as well as PML ?

Its a Yes for Jap cars but a Bmw with complicated technology ?

 

And also it seems the 3L 325i is very rare, which made things worst.

Yes, you are right, the computer stuff are complicated and you need a diagnostic tool (a computer that connects to the car's ECU) to do some of the work.

Like what chickenbackside bro said above, there are workshops in Singapore that specialised in BMWs, be it 318, 320, 325 or 335. They can handle everything including the ECU and other computerised parts. You just need to know whom to go to. It's cheaper than PML, most of the time....but that doesn't mean the quality is lower....hope this is useful!

There has been many posts concerning the "badging" mentality. This I will not disagree. In fact, I think that this mentality not only applies to BMW, it applies to other makes like Mercs, Ferrari, Lambo. And not only cars, but bags (Gucci, LV), watches, houses, etc. In general, a Singaporean (some say Asian, but I can't comment) mentality.

 

My Example:

Let's take a house for example. There will be people who rent 1-rm/2-room HDB, buy 3-rm, 5-rm, apartment, condo, terrace, semi-D, bungalow, good-class bungalow, etc. Some buy the whole island in the Pacific.

 

We may be unhappy with some terrace owners, because we had bad experiences with them. For example, they think they are rich and powerful, and hence had bad attitude and treat other people badly, or look down on others.

 

But it is definitely unfair to say that all terrace house owners buy a terrace house simply because they want to be placed in the league of "a owner of a landed property". No doubt some of them are, but not all. Those who are and had bad attitude, I do not agree with their thinking.

 

Put the above in a car's perspective. Change the words "terrace house" to a "BMW" or "Merc" or whatever car we like, and I'm sure everyone get what I mean.

 

Just for info, I planned to buy my wife a Cherry QQ or a Nissan March. Because it is suitable for her. And with the budget which we want to spend.

 

I may comment that the car (Cherry/March) is not as good, say compared to a Lexus or Ferrari. This is fair, if we compare facts.

 

But I will never say that people who buy Cherry or March are people who can't afford cars and yet want to drive one. This "may" be true to some, but definitely not all Cherry/March owners. It is unfair to label all of them as "car owner wannabe".

 

Sometimes we get too high up, we forgot where we came from. I always tell myself I used to be a naked ugly robot that is put together by a boy called Anakin. [:p]

Anyway thanks for all the replies guys, I decided to pay more to get a used local unit, but still considering other cars at the moment.

 

The N53 engine just dont seem right to me, being the 1 and only in SG. [sweatdrop]

I recently noticed the rear cabin space for the 325 coupe is prettty miserable...will be very tight for those who are 1.7m and above sitting at the back..

Yes it is, model after model it gets worse.

 

E36 coupe is spacious, E46 became smaller but still acceptable, now........

 

or maybe it's becos i grew fatter?

designer for coupe don't really consider rear seat to be functional as passenger seat. otherwise, it wouldn't be a coupe would it ?

a. warranty claim due to defects

b. recall

 

if either one is triggered and PI had closed shop = suck thumb ?

I understand coupe rear cabin space is nvr spacious but it is really small for the 3 series couple compared to their rivals. Take for example, I can confirm the alfa GT coupe has better rear cabin space even though it is also cramped..the audi equivalent coupe has also better rear cabin space I think...the 325 coupe rear cabin space is ridiculous...

hello friend, alfa is front wheel drive so the transmission dont go into the rear that why back end would be spacious, bmw is rear wheel drive that why the drive train goes to the back thus making back end smaller.

 

how to compare lar,,, that why you see volvo, renault, and saab have spacious rear seat compare to rear wheel drive car

I have a regular rear passener who is 1.77m in my coupe, how come neber combrain tight le? [confused]

 

KNN...when u buy a coupe the least of yr concern is the rear seat. The coupe has to achieve one thing>>> sporty design so usually the rear is wedged shape. U say the BMW coupe rear seat small ah for a 1.7m dude then I think u havent sat in one yet. Even fat arse like me also can squeeze inside. I tell which rear seat is really small, the Audi TT.

Yes, Audi TT rear passenger seats are ridiculously small. I saw in the back for a test-drive and it was torturous! Definitely for kids only. [sweatdrop]
