definitely a R50. very fun to drive. [drivingcar]

850Nm of torque from 2000rpm with killer brakes. don't mess... 0-100 is 6.9 seconds. but in day-to-day reality, you should be looking at the 0-80 which is 4.7 seconds - less than 1 second slower than the M3 or C63!

In singapore context....good acceleration will only win you traffic light races.

But on an empty KJE road....the real test of man and machine is where it matters!

High speed driving is where the guts of the car owner is tested.

Most cars on the road are considered good for 180km/hr....but is the driver gutsy enough to drive at that speed?

I will drive a motorcycle if I want to experience 0-100km/hr under 5 seconds!

touareg not that expensive lah.

A large-capacity diesel engined car in SG is not cheap.

With taxes and all, it should cost you at least 4-5 times more than a petrol engine of the same size.

But diesel is cheaper than petrol, by the gallon though.

Actually I think quite a few proper 4x4s may be able to tug a 747. Just that noone bothered to film it and sell the car that way. [smash]

Don't they have people in China and India pulling stuff like 747s and freight trains with their teeth and ears? :D

High torque on a big, heavy HIGH vehicle is great if you only need to travel at high speeds in a straight line.

Go through a couple of tight turns and see what happens.

the R50 tows the 747 so slowly, like it's not moving...the tractors in the airport tow faster...more efficient...

VW touareg interior quite small and the quality use is quite cheap...hence the rather low sticker price...i think the R50 going at $298,000 last time i checked...

diesel 5l tourage's torque is simply [shocked][shocked]

how i wish i can get one of this and fit it inside mustank [sly]

the only problem is that vw's engine is those euro 4 direct injection

much much more efficient than my old euro3 indirect injection mercs engine [blush]

problem is i cant use those oem pumps anymore [:(]

i defintely cannot afford a tourage [blush]

i think they should make the tourage bigger and more rugged like GM's yukon xl series

i think you've got it mixed up. for a big, heavy vehicle, what you need is high torque to pull you from standstill. it's what you need when you go through a couple of tight turns: slow in, fast out.

horsepower is what you need to travel at high speeds. as a diesel vehicle, the R50 isn't great at higher speeds because it lacks the horsepower.

R50, my dream car. The pulling power is awesome. Road tax plus special tax is a killer though.

Match with Yamaha V-max to ride on wkends....damn!

Triumph never appeal to me, reminds me of bra. [laugh]

V-max for me but unfortunately can't afford. Machine price is $40K!

Ok, let's get back to Touareg topic.

It's 850nm at 2000rpm. That's the scary part.

Wow, fuel tank 100L. Petrol station sure like. [laugh]

Hitting 850Nm at 2K rpm is one thing..... but can that torque be maintained throughout its rev band or it just tapers away quickly after that??? If so, then can you imagine when cruising along at say 150km/h and say a sudden pickup is required for overtaking..... I wonder how would be the pull then? Without looking at the torque & power graph, its difficult to tell if its really that good in acceleration when at higher speeds.

But for 0-100 in 6.8 secs, that's pretty fast..... not really very fast category.

Errr.... 0-100 in 6.9 sec.

but 0 -80 in 4.7 sec.

So for the additional 20km/h takes 2 secs??? <_<

yes. it's a diesel engine. that's why i say you have to look at the 0-80. and in real life, that's the speed you'll hit on normal roads.
