Roh96 6th Gear March 16, 2009 Share March 16, 2009 Those who plan to change/buy car already done so except you. So since only left you, maybe you should continue monitoring COE and take over the role of our COE man(aka Ahyoo).
Leepee 1st Gear March 16, 2009 Author Share March 16, 2009 Hmm...only left me who is still interested in the cheap COE? Most already buy from AD at package price? Oh well.....so this week it will crash due to low demand?
Roh96 6th Gear March 16, 2009 Share March 16, 2009 If $2 CAT A and $200 CAT B is still consider exp for you...you can continue to wait and dream for the next round of crash. For now, i can only say you have missed the boat.
Leepee 1st Gear March 16, 2009 Author Share March 16, 2009 Yup...I also think I have procrastinate on this COE issue for too long untill I have missed the boat. Just last week, the newspaper also reported that gov will most likely reduce the COE quota severly come Sept09. So I guess, its the best time to buy a car now. With the ever rising COE to $20k by end of the year......many will see that their car still hold value due to the higher COE! Withe the reduce COE quota and improving economy(STI and DowJones all UP by alot last week), there is onle one way the COE will go...UP Up and away. Raffy1996 Neutral Newbie March 16, 2009 Share March 16, 2009 There seems to be a prediction (from some bt article) that there will be another round of supply cuts ... so COE prices are definitely going up. No need to predict haha...
Roh96 6th Gear March 16, 2009 Share March 16, 2009 The problem is you don't even know what car u aiming at. One moment say caymen, next moment say MPV, make up your mind first than decide lah.
Flexer Neutral Newbie March 16, 2009 Share March 16, 2009 I think most Singaporeans have already committed to a car and are stuck with it (for better or worse) for the next few years so all of these group will be hoping for COE to go up and up from now onwards so that when it's time for them to change car ( which only in Singaporean context means 3-5 yrs time), their current car value will be high enough for them to trade in for new one. All in all, most parties involved from car dealers (both new and 2nd hand) to govt to current car owners will not want COE to be low for various reasons of their own. The only group who still want COE to be low are new car buyers.

Cjgoh Neutral Newbie March 16, 2009 Share March 16, 2009 Seems like the interest among guys here is no longer HOT? No one buying cars anymore? Or is the COE too cheap to even worry about it anymore? Today is the 1st day, there is hardly any submission of bids - last checked it was 0 for Cat A. But by tomorrow evening, you will see action. And on the 3rd day, you will see a mad last minute rush. I suspect the COE for Cat A will hit above the 5K mark. Likely around 5.5K this round. May even be more taking into account April's deadline to reduce numbers of COE. Same applies to everything else. The only people who makes money is the government. No one else. Period.

BMW 5 series now selling at 136K, Audi A6 at 140K ...all time low....these means the ADs "predict" COE for CAT B will stable or drop this round. Confirm the demand is weak, even with the quota cut news.

Buy continental now that is cheap seems temtping, but the maintenance and upkeep for a european marquee just isn't cost effective. Expensive parts and service charges, nullifies the low showroom price tags.

I'm driving a conti for the past 2 years and jap for the preceding 6 years... I certainly don't see much diff between the cost of maintenance for jap and conti cars. ↡ Advertisement
