Change tyres for Vios

Hello bros

 

I had this Vios in 2007 with original rims n tyres. The tyres' threads r all running thin & gotto change all 4 tyres soon. Coincidentally, its almost time for 50k svcing - which i do at BM all the time.

 

Briefly reading some threads, GR80 seems is a good buy. How do u think?

 

Between going to BM to change tyres vs going to other tyre sellers, like popular stores Stamford or Soh Tyres @ AMK1, would there be very significant differences in price?

 

Budget around 100 SGD per tyre sufficient?

GR80 not in production anymore, I doubt you can get it, unless it was manufactured quite long ago, which is not recommended, as rubber hardens over time. AR10 is the replacement model. nevertheless I love Bridgestone tires, think they are all round good tires.

i have have a vios, abeit 2005 model, the first generation, i too need a replacement of the tires, currently running on yokohama A drive, almost 40k now. any recommendations on which tires to change. my current tyre size is 185/65/14.

you may consider Firestone wide oval... Its cheaper than GR80. quite a good all rounders.

federal 595 tyres costs 79/pc, firehawk wide oval 65/pc,last time i checked a few months ago. all for 195/50/R15.

another cheap but good tyre would be kumho ku31,forgot the pricing though.

got my 595 evo 195/55/R15 on stock rims... very good compared to my stock tyres... much lesser in noise, good grip and a lot more confortable... even my wife says its much better now.

 

got it at $85/pc ... wonder where mavrick79 got it at $79/pc.

any 1 try toyo teo plus before?? make in japan , the thread is the fine type like gr80 or db.

too bad gr80 stop production for 14'15, and db grip is really -.- .

the next fine thread comfort tyres i can find , japan make is teo plus .

some taya thread design suffers from low speed hummimg.....reason why i stay away from 595, FD2 got no issue like tis.

No, I'm not related to them. For a @$100 should be able to get a good tyre. Know your preference - quiet tyre or good road holding. Like, do you drive fast?

If you want a better grip for your Vios, you can take a tyre with 185/60R14 size.

 

Again, know exactly what you want in your tyre - more comfort or performance oriented. Different tyres have their pros & cons, so a tyre with excellent performance might tend to be a bit noisier.
