I can understand the benefit of using better tires for better grips, but why use expensive rims like BBS? what is the benefit?

This is a very guy thing. My guess is that you are a girl. Just ask yourself why buy a LV bag when a $2 shopping bag can do the job.

why drive german cars and not jap, taiwan or china made cars? no offense to anyone, just using an analogy here.

Apart from the exclusivity and performance pedigree associated with such rims, i think one really tangible benefit that they offer is lesser rolling resistance. Usually they are constructed using alloy materials that have high tensile strength and yet light. The weight reduction helps in reducing rolling resistance, improving fuel consumption too. Such rims are usually fanciful with unique spoke styling as compared to stock rims which are steel ones (heavier).

May be you are right, I notice that my car roll further when I had my foot off the gas pedal, so I guess it has lesser rolling resistance than those stock rims.

Saw BBS rims used by Ferraris in the F1 races, and they do have rims specially made for BMW and Ferrrai GT, check it out here:

there are plenty of niche expensive rims brands. but be warned... there have been instances of rims being stolen in sg. so if you are contemplating Volks etc, consider yourself forewarned :D

it's the same with why buy Conti or jap car when china made cars can bring you from point a to b.

i won't think they are always more chio. some stock rims are nicer looking. but for sure being lighter, it helps a bit in performance and FC. but then, for daily road use and considering how much they cost, the financial aspect is quite damaging and the gains are quite little.

With BBS rims, you're paying for quality and branding and design.

But the only thing I DON'T associate with BBS rims is being light-weight --- yes, they can be lighter than stock steel rims but compared to other aftermarket rims, they are quite hefty -- stronger? dunno but certainly heavier. And for me, the deal breaker is the $$$$ price tag for BBS rims.

question is when waking up, will you still see your 4 wheels there or just 4 bricks??? for private hm owners still alright, for hdb owners pray hard
