Victor68 Turbocharged July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 Why you got heavy vehicle hogging the road during the morning rush hours? Have you guys seen oil tanker, heavy crane, lorries ladien with steel rods or construction materials plying the road at 8 am!!! I am puzzle why these drivers are driving empty heavy vehicle to construction sites at such hours. Why didn't they plan it earlier or last night? Once upon a time, I saw trimming of the over hang planters during peak hours by NPark but they have improved. LTA should ban people from using commercial heavy vehicle as private transportation. It not only takes up space, slow down the traffic, it is also not efficient. Anyone wish to comment on this? ↡ Advertisement

Alvingbh Neutral Newbie July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 no offence bro... but as much as i find slow moving heavy vehicles abit frustrating, your rant is way too biased. if you want to start work at 8+, why do they have to start work way way earlier just so that you can have a clear road to work? Why not you plan ahead and head for your office at 6+ so that you can avoid the heavy vehicles? I am not trying to pick a fight but please spare a thought for others as well, we are all out to make a living. Just because you want to have things easy, doesnt mean others have to bend over just to make you happier.
Ladykillerz 4th Gear July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 I guess with the current road condition, especially during peak hours, we should set a specify timing for "commercial" vehicles. I do see more and more commercial vehicles misuse it for personal usage...

But i do agree tht the Npark shd trim the plants in the midnight or other time when the traffic is not tht heavy..... Just my 2cents.....
Amortifiedpenguin Clutched July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 today you complain got heavy vehicles on road. tonight government say ok 6am to 10am ban all heavy vehicles. tomorrow you go to work you wonder where your shipment that was supposed to arrive at 9am went to. tomorrow afternoon you find your son telling you that you need to wake up at 6.30am from now on to send him to school because the school bus has been banned. tomorrow night you drive back from a sumptuous dinner with your family at some restaurant and you wonder why the road is so damn packed with heavy vehicles even though its already 10pm. you reach home at 1am. repeat. Ladykillerz 4th Gear July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 NYC did implement such rule.. From the below link, it stated, "NYCDOT is researching policies that can encourage companies to shift deliveries to off-peak hours (between 7PM and 6AM) in New York City." Singapore roads are pretty insane with the jam as well. So, I reckon that it will be wise if our Ministry of Transport can benchmark what NYCDOT's plan... Pisces69 6th Gear July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 I guess with the current road condition, especially during peak hours, we should set a specify timing for "commercial" vehicles. I do see more and more commercial vehicles misuse it for personal usage... ======================= All i ask is that those heavy vehicles (incl G, Y & X plate) just keep to the left as much as possible. We now have them regularly travelling in the right lane & mostly in the center lane. That really slows things down. Imagine they stop on right lane & when light turn green, they take a long time to pick up speed. And when they finally do get some speed its difficult for them to filter to the left cos the tailback they caused is forcing vehicles to overtake them on their left. Not only frustrating but damm dangerous even. Sometimes I feel they do it on purpose, just to irritate other road users cos they fed-up of being overtaken by just about everybody when they keep to the left. I really do hope TP wil start taking some serious action against those hoggers (even those cars who hog) cos they r making the roads damm dangerous with their inconsiderate behaviour. I regularly see cars hogging the right lane of our eways doing 80 to 90kmh all the way. I wonder how these retards( or sud I say MENTALLY CHALLENGED) got their licence? Shimada Clutched July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 (edited) i cannot agree more... why everyone cluster fark those few hours? why company cannot start at other times? i for one don't care about office hours, unless some nincompoop set the meeting at 9am or 5pm... i just avoid the roads during peak hours... together we can do it! i think the lorry driver also dun wanna be there at that hour if he can help it... his clutch very heavy you know? you drive auto why make noise? i drive manual so avoid driving peak hours, else i will be very fed up... Silver_blade Turbocharged July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 I guess our traffic situation is not bad enough for the gov to do anything drastic. I understand that some developing countries have restriction on heavy goods vehicles on motorway/city center, during morning peak hours.

U may see one or a few lorry drivers hog ur way once a while, but this should not turn into a reason you request the goverment to ban all of them, most of them are still ok on the road, they are slow but they take the slow lane. A lot of lorry drivers are working hard when we are sleeping, logistic contributes 10% of our GDP so pls show our respect to them
