Hmm... now tat u mention it, quite true. Botak service is more well-trained. E Aston's staff (i only ate once) is pretty blur and my soup came after my steak, which tats after reminding them...

I think Aston's staff turn-over rate could be higher or just didn't spend enough time to train their staff well enough. I'm almost, always impressed by Botak Jones'...some of their staffs are very attentive and observant. Once I went with my daughter, who was just under 2yrs old then, and she wanted to try my fries which has chilli powder on it. So I was looking for 1 which has none/little chilli powder on it....before I could even clean the chilli powder off one....I have 1 small plate of fries , without chilli powder served with a smile. Additional fries compliment from them.

I'm actually quite puzzled that they are opening branches at prime area with very high rental [sweatdrop]

Think they are trying to branch out ot the more up-market sector. Their Aston Prime at Joo Chiat is doing pretty well. I sometimes go there with my kids if the queue at the cheaper Aston is too long or when I cannot find a parking space.

Hopefully they can continue offering a wide variety with affordable price

Beside the wider choice of chicken offered by Astons, i like the side dishes that can be chosen [thumbsup]

Price wise is reasonable... can even get a slight discount if u go to the one located at SPC(S'pore Post Centre) & pay with the Kopitiam card [:)]

Btw, my son love western soup but those like Soup Spoon are located at city area & I don't want to drive all the way there during weekends. Is there any nice soup to recommend around northeast, north or east side of s'pore? thanks!

Locations outside of town are Changi Airport T2 and One North (Buona Vista)

Airport one is inside transit area leh.

Ooh...

Well, that's quite stupid to list it as a branch, seeing that people can't access it regularly.

Anyone one else has any other suggestion for ribs?

Sorry, tried Cartel ribs twice and don't find it nice even @ $13.80.

Tried Hog's Breath once, ribs so-so but steak is clearly not that strong suit.

Like eating a piece of rubber.

Really? Hog's Breathe used to be my favourite casual dining establishment when I was still living in Australia. Their steaks were absolutely marvelous, I remember them boasting that their meat were all dry-smoked and seasoned for 24 hours before portions are sliced off for preparation. Mmmmm..

Never got around to trying their franchises in Singapore as I suspected the food would not be up to par and I didn't want to ruin a good memory for myself [laugh]

for Coffee Bean breakfast I only go for the simple stuff like muffin or bagel, other stuff I find overpriced.

one thing good about TCC is that their coffee got standard.

but most of the time I still prefer coffee shop porridge bee hoon for breakfast, cannot afford to eat $10 breakfast every day, hahaha ...

I've never particularly enjoyed Western food for breakfast. Coffee and juice are just about the only Western-styled items on my breakfast list - good old Asian food is what hits the spot for me in the morning ;)

He thinks you chinese so serve soup after eating main course. [laugh]

ok, I never try aston before. Let me try the new one at Centrepoint then can post comment.

Ok. posting review on Aston.

Just had dinner at Aston Centrepoint. I had the Angus ribeye (medium rare) with baked potato and creamy brocoli while OC had Angus Ribeye X-cut (medium) with mushroom and steam vege. 3 x [thumbsup] Really value for money. My steak is 20.90 while OC's 23.90 (GST inclusive and no service charge).

Soup of the day ($3.50) is clam chowder. 2 x [thumbsup] Creamy and chokeful with ingredients.

Steak is juicy though I would prefer it a little more bloody. Very filling but still managed to down a coffee $2 and shared a mudpie ($6.50) [thumbsup]

Service is 2 x [thumbsup] .

Overall experience is 3 x [thumbsup] . Much better than Jack's and The Vines esp I got Angus beef for the same price. BJ totally no fight but it is prob unfair as BJ is half the price of Aston Prime and I also never try similar item for comparison.

If bros here going, either go damn early (I was there at 5.15pm w/o reservation) or make reservation because it is popular.

I will definitely go again because I love a good steak anytime.
