Nlatio Turbocharged June 24, 2010 Share June 24, 2010 The 1xxx series seemed to have problem with some icons not showing with maps from mfm. It is probably due to the new way Garmin software works, while mfm maps are using 3rd party compiler. Unless you want to use msm map compiled with Garmin compiler, then you should not have such problem. For best compatibility, get the 2xx series. Noted with thanks bro.... will go talk to them... maybe compare compare with Holux one... ↡ Advertisement

Ahdang Neutral Newbie June 24, 2010 Share June 24, 2010 The device is only as good as the map. Although I used Garmin, I don't think Papago is that bad. Perhaps he didn't know how to use it properly or got the latest updated map. maybe.. i never used papago before so i can't judge.. just saying what my friend experienced
Billcoke 2nd Gear June 25, 2010 Share June 25, 2010 Good news to those Garmin owners. The latest Garmin CN map of Sg/My 2010.20 has a comprehensive data base of postal codes and addresses in Singapore. I have tested it and I believe it is as good as the SLA postal codes and addresses data that is bundled with other brands of GPS devices sold locally. I read from somewhere that Garmin users are limited to two free upgrade or something? there after is chargeable, right?

Civic6656 1st Gear August 26, 2010 Share August 26, 2010 If your navi hasn't receive GPS signal and you start to move, it will take a long long time to get a fix as it will keep searching for the strongest satellite signals. This applies to all navis.
Leok777 Clutched August 26, 2010 Share August 26, 2010 What I understand is that on first using the gps it takes awhile to logon but once it does the subsequent times will be faster. I have a garmin nuvi 255w and a papago with m3 software and i find papago a bit laggy but map wise its very accurate and easier to use than the garmin. I also like the 3D features of the papago. E052798 Neutral Newbie April 21, 2011 Share April 21, 2011 R5800 is old model. i had it since 2009. Routing is no problem, satelite lock on is abit slower but no issue at all. i used it regularly in SG and Msia, very good experience for past 2yrs+ there's a very active forum online supporting Malfreemap which run in this R5800. Msia maps updates are very well done. only thing is, i don't think this model is around anymore?
