If you buy used car ... the last 5 yrs is just approx 30% of depreciation. Work out the sums above ... see what you can do with the amount of cash saved ... ur decision will come naturally next. Hi all, Looking for some advice down here. If I am planning to go overseas to work in about 4 to 5 years time. Would it be advisable to get a sec hand say a 05 car ( Range ~30K) versus a brand new car? I suppose a sec hand car would make more sense, but how does the calculation goes? Both are good cars, the 1.1 uses the same engine and its cheap to service and run. Oil 3 litres, filter $5 and plug $10. Road tax about $440 a year.
