Question on paypal service

Want to seek some opinions on paypal... especially from those who're actually using the service.

Paypal allows linking of credit card, and this supposedly gives some protection, because you don't have to feed the number to various online vendors every time you buy something.

Is this credit card linking reliable/safe? Any complaints or bad experience?

Or is this the hottest thing now that I'm not aware of? [rolleyes]

I dunno how they charge on exchange rate. By them or CC coy.

But anyway, after you key in your CC to Paypal, you be charged for $3. Upon receiving your bill, there are code on it to redeem your $3 back to your account. It will offset from your CC bill after you made payment.

Paypal is safe, do not worry. =)

More safer, but exchange rate is not as good as credit card

when i make purchase on ebay via Paypal u have the option to choose whether to use Paypal exchange rate or ur credit card exchange rate... from experiene the difference is not significant unless u buy something worth several thousand dollars.

paypal is certainly safe, been using it for a few years no problem. infact with the buyer protection prog, i manage to make a full claim n refund for a product that was unsatisfactory

the $3 is only a one time thing when u first register ur CC. after that no more liao...

there's no service charges when u make purchases, but when u recieve payment from someone, there'll be a service charge, forgot how much liao

So far I'm using it actively for my company as we have a corporate account.

Occasionally I'd also use my personal paypal account.

So far so good. Happy with the service.

But it is definitely safer than using credit card, else your internet vendor would have a copy of your CC details, wouldn't that be more risky???.

As a international seller, I have once suffer a very bad selling experience from an Italian buyer claiming non delivery after three days from the the date of receipt of payment. After much explaining and forwarding Singpost Reg article no, still paypal decided to believe the buyer's c--k and bull story. The end end result paypal reverse the payment ( without any prior notice).

If you need to buy from International sellers, making payments via paypal is immediate and time saving. I make purchase payments to all my UK, USA , & Aust suppliers.Since then I have stop all purchase payments via T/T or L/C

i think there's a problem with the italian post, cost it seems many sellers on ebay refuse to ship to italy or make it compulsory to only ship by courier like Fedex or DHL when shipping there

I am very cautious with buyers from Spain , French and Italy especially those who have less than 100 positive feedback comments or have just registered less than 6 months.

I they place an order and if I feel not comfortable, normally I request them to cancell the deal or just email to info them that I do not ship to your countries due to some bad selling experience.

Wow! Thanks for all the feedback.

Yes, I did some research earlier on internet and there was quite a lot of angry feedback especially from overseas regarding poor helpline, and problems with frozen account etc. And that it's quite difficult to recover funds, when there's mistake/suspicious billing... but i think it's roughly the same situation here with credit cards as we have seen in the papers lately. Supposedly, being the buyer (i.e. paying thru paypal) is relatively problem-free, but more problematic if we are the seller (i.e. trying to receive and take out payment thru paypal).
