Tunge 1st Gear October 1, 2009 Share October 1, 2009 the $3 charge is to lift the limit only right? been using paypal for 2 years.. its great. convenient.. didnt realli care bout the rates, just press confirm and pay lol it's not a charge, it's just to verify that the credit card that u link belongs to u... the $3 will be credited into ur paypal account once u verify the credit card with paypal. ↡ Advertisement
1fast1 Supersonic October 1, 2009 Share October 1, 2009 All the negatives: http://www.paypalsucks.com/ I've used it in the past (around 6-7 years ago). No complaints personally. But having read the negative feedback, I terminated my account shortly thereafter. Don't really do much internet biz anyway. Paypal seems to heavily favour buyers over sellers. Which means you're probably not likely to see any trouble if you just use it to buy stuff online, like most users. However, the internet merchants may have issues if the buyers decide to give them a hard time - PP tends to take their (buyers') sides in general. Sosaria Twincharged October 1, 2009 Author Share October 1, 2009 (edited) For all who mentioned their years of experience, etc. using paypal... just need to clarify: did you link with your credit card, or is there some other method that avoids giving them credit card info? Actually i'm not too happy that the $3 (though just a small sum) is not really returned... it's stuck in the paypal a/c which cannot be transferred out without charge because the amount is too small. So if i'm just a buyer using linked credit card (i.e. no money adding into the paypal a/c), then wouldn't the $3 be 'makan' by paypal, in a way?? Or my understanding is wrong? Also, as a buyer with a linked credit card, can i limit the accessible amount? (sounds crazy i know, but it'd be nice to be able to impose a limit, to minimize loss in case of fraud) Edited October 1, 2009 by Sosaria
Joshguu Neutral Newbie October 1, 2009 Share October 1, 2009 paypal is a trusted service by most online vendors. say u wanna purchase something from someone online. be it in their webbie or say.... this forum. u can choose to pay by paypal as it protects all ur details. in sg we just to bank to bank transfer but what if seller dun have posb/dbs? quite a hassle to add payee when he using other bank. Nhyone 4th Gear October 1, 2009 Share October 1, 2009 Sellers will have to bear the paypal handling charges. It's 3.4% +0.50cents for ebay Spore site. The charges vary from one country to another. It's pretty hefty... is there an alternative to PayPal? (For a seller.)
Yeobh 4th Gear October 2, 2009 Share October 2, 2009 (edited) You probably can use Paymate in Australia and US sites but you need to maintain a local bank account. PS Insist on ATM or iBank transfer for all sales in Spore Edited October 2, 2009 by Yeobh

Just ensure enough money inside to pay for transaction, and top up when necessary.
Elementswatches Neutral Newbie October 5, 2009 Share October 5, 2009 Paypal have been around since 1998 and is currently a subsidiary of Ebay. It is safe and secure way of transfering payment wirelessly and I have performed a number of transactions through it to date. With the strength of Ebay as the parent, one should not worry too much regarding it's reliability and performance.
Hamburger Hypersonic November 3, 2009 Share November 3, 2009 need a quickie here, as i m using Paypal for e 1st time..... I have tried to make payment through PayPal but they needed a PayPal code which is suppose to be shown on my credit card statement. Does that mean I have to wait for the next statement to arrive and then proceed to make the payment? Being 1st time, does that mean the seller has to wait~ few wks as the buyer also need to wait for the statement to arrive?? TIA
