So_nice 6th Gear October 2, 2009 Share October 2, 2009 making 100% usage of the 100bhp is more important then having a 600bhp car but only able to make use of its 20% power. any tom dick and harry can go fast on straights. its the corners tat make the difference. Pchmj Clutched October 2, 2009 Share October 2, 2009 CVT got initial lag when you step on paddle, can be improved a lot by spark-bridging. But once the gear 'bites', the power is there, can maintain consistent power output. Won't feel how much is the acceleration but can see the speedometer and traffic around you, it's not slow at all. Drivers will not feel that he/she is driving fast. At the same speed, the feel is different from car to car. What I can safely confirm is 80 km/h in a vios feels faster than 80 km/h in a latio. For normal transmission, can roughly know the speed when gear change. For CVT, you won't know, naturally will tend to drive faster...

Pchmj Clutched October 2, 2009 Share October 2, 2009 Been to genting few times, need to overtake in NSHW at times, have no problem at high speed. Engine is noisy at high rpm but required power is there. Had not tried others CVT before but I do like the one in latio, especially going uphill. Anyway, I'm not saying latio is fast, it's a 1.5L afterall. But compared to other same segment cars, it's definitely not slow. In SG context, it's the driver, as long as step more on gas, will be fast. Even a 1.0L car can be fast.
