What Alfa needs is more people that have never driven an Alfa before to try one. Too many remember the old Suds and 155s - not reliable, maintenance issues and everything. THe new cars much better, still not in league of Lexus, but match the others

I am a huge fan of the brand, the first time I drove three in one day - a 147 SS, 156 GTA and the GT. Have also tried the 166, 159 and Mito. Every time I sit inside the feeling is very special. And feaure for feature for $ they kick the butt of BMW and Merc. Seriously, $100k for 185 hp conti small mid exec - where got so cheap?

seriously, u've got to be kidding? 100k for 159 now? COE at 20k, how's tat possible? for those who want, i don't even know what they're waiting for.

BMW offers the best steering feel for this category, and great handling. But for the cheapest range, the engine power is not enough to bring out the joy of that chassis. So value for money, 159 is the best at the moment, great looks, performance and handling.

Just my personal feel. The front design of the 8C Competizione is leaning more towards the Mito with round eyes , small grille and a tad on the cute side. Why not Alfa take the 159 big grille and aggressive headlamp concept and I believe it will have more 'boomz'.

its the MiTo that derived its design from the 8C, not the other way round.

u mean this?

but i think the 8C design is based on the curves, so less aggressive front is more suitable. The 159 whole concept is more angular. quite different concepts actually.

Not kidding, I call and double check just now, $101,800.

If anybody is looking in this category, you MUST take the car for a drive. Not everybody likes the selespeed (it is classified as auto by LTA though) but for those that like driving there is no real comparison for this price.

Neutral Newbie

one of the reason alfas are sold cheaper now is because its recognize that their resale values are worse off than more brands

good thing, distributor realised that n lower the price

Nah man - price they can import the cars for has got way more to do with selling price than resale value

in singapore context , WHAT resale value you're talking about ?

I would said they are under pressure from their principal who wanted more market presence , that's why the relocation and price-to-sell .Anyway EA doesn't only rely on AR car -because it's a niche market everywhere not only in this region ; go to their teban showroom and then tell me what other car they sell .

The big grille and aggressive headlight concept is passe. Even Audi and VW dropped it or toned it down.

The trend now is back to subtle, stylish and elegant. Trust the Italians, ok?

If you want boomz, you should look at those ah beng Japanese performance cars. No subtlety at all! I think you will like that kind of thing. [laugh]

bro that is a horrible thought! better not let those foreign to Alfa Romeo hear that otherwise they'll think the car is real crap. [laugh][laugh]

no i don't mean that they'll visit svc centres more for repairs. i just mean after buying car, you send it for servicing 2 to 3 times a year. if u own the car 5 years, that's like 15 times, making it more logical to have a more centrally located svc centre.

i don't think the big grille concept is passe. maybe the aggressive headlamps are. Alfa has traditionally designed its car around their grilles, past and present. The Mito's grille is still quite large, while the 8C grille resembles more of the original 156.

the 159 was designed by Giugaro, who designed the later 156 and later 147. so u see a more aggressive front. i don't know whether it's passe but all i know is each designer has their own masterstroke. And the italians don't follow trends in car designs. They set trends. And you're spot on, trust the italians when it comes to design. They've simply got it!

i had seen left hand drive cars on our roads.

don't know how they got the approval, but a "left hand drive" sticker need to be pasted on the car.

yep me too, as rare as they are. sometimes i lament the fact Alfa is under Fiat. If not, the 8C would be a production model rather than limited. But i suppose the Fiat bosses wouldn't want the 8C eating into Ferrari and Maserati. Despite the lower performance, i saw more ppl looking at the 8C than a Ferrari in a magazine when it approached Maranello.

people always look at new/fresh things first.

the 8C wasn't exactly new, being introduced in 2003. it shows Alfa styling stands the test of time, new or old.
