Roadhogger 2nd Gear February 17, 2011 Share February 17, 2011 (edited) There will be a minimum thickness stated on the side of every rotors. visible to us? or must remove rims? Edited February 17, 2011 by Roadhogger ↡ Advertisement
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear February 17, 2011 Share February 17, 2011 Grooves can be skimmed on machine. However, solid disc rotor should be at least 9mm thick to avoid wrapape during hard braking. Check with manufacturer for advice
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear February 17, 2011 Share February 17, 2011 You got the point. You are right. 100% agree
Starcombat Neutral Newbie February 17, 2011 Share February 17, 2011 Hi Bros, Do you know whether the brake rotor sizes for Vios and Altis are the same? I got one for my 2006 FL Altis (stock 14inch 4x100 pcd wheel version). The mech says it is correct. The packaging says Vios on the box and when installed, it appears to be very "spacious" to the rims. Thanks.
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear February 17, 2011 Share February 17, 2011 Where the pitch circle diameter for the wheel studs are the same, they are interchangeable. Can check if mentioned on technical specification websites like carspector.com?

The packaging says Vios on the box and when installed, it appears to be very "spacious" to the rims. Thanks. Not only PCD and diameter. You need to make sure the center ring diameter and the offset of the rotor matches. If not, no go. Even if rotor can fit in, it will rub the ball joint, or your caliper may not fit. Hermit 1st Gear February 18, 2011 Share February 18, 2011 for me, if the rotors have been worn to the stage where the outer edges of the discs protrudes more than the surface, when you run your finger from the edge towards the center. Reason is: - the pad will not have an optimal braking performance, as it contacts firstly and mostly on the edge rather than the surface of the disc - the pad will also wear out pre-maturely, and unevenly. - lastly, noisy.. 'eeeeeeeeee.. eeeek' due to contact with the outer edge of the rotor
Starcombat Neutral Newbie February 21, 2011 Share February 21, 2011 I went back to WS and compared with my old discs that they still have around. I didn't have a ruler to measure but visually the difference in diameter is maybe 5mm. The mechanic said no problem. So far, the brakes are performing better, probably because they are new and the brake pads are supposed to be better than stock.
