Same here, i nv even give my wife diamond ring coz she say its a useless stone, save the money for reno more practical. Save me money and trouble [thumbsup]

Like bro mention here, your wife till now didnt complain abt friends having it but I don't have kind of attitude? If so,great! [thumbsup] I'm only afriad she'll compare in future, cause if I propose to her, she'll be the first among her friends to get hitched,so no complains. But when her friends got hitch too, comparison is unavoidable.

Shy I don't think so.Unsporting I don't think so too. She's ok with stuff but proposal in front of ppl,I don't know she can take it not.I'm thinking of holding her hand and ask the question. If she pai say wanna walk away,at least I still hold on to her. [laugh]

Buy a Kork Ring, she will sure like it. Dont need to worry about comparison also. [flowerface]

Hi Bro

I do agree that gals like to compare. So I think a nice and elegant ring is unavoidable.

Meanwhile, for the place and idea, just wondering do both of you have place that you all always go? Or place where you guys first meet or etc? I think it may be simple,. but afterall to me, it is kinda of romantic. The place where you all starts and end your courtship.

Other than place, I guess you also need to brainstorm for a sweet and nice speech to bring out the proposal.

Erm..Place we went during our first date is clarke quay.Had our first dinner at Glass House Fish and Co.Place we always go?Hm..Either her place or my place. [laugh] Actually we didn't always go somewhere.I think speech shouldn't be a problem.she know I don't like to sweet talk, and she keep complaining she quite sometime didnt hear me saying "I Love You". [:(]

I always sing this song to my wife when she has a bad day at work

"I wanna grow old with you" from the wedding singer

I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad

Carry you around when your arthritis is bad

All I wanna do is grow old with you

I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches

Build you a fire if the furnace breaks

Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you

I'll miss you

Kiss you

Give you my coat when you are cold

Need you

Feed you

Even let ya hold the remote control

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink

Put you to bed if you've had too much to drink

I could be the man who grows old with you

I wanna grow old with you

-----------------------------------------------------------

whats so beautiful about this song?

It says "I love you" without actually saying it.

hope that helps

That's like near 5k or so.Is that a norm?Cause my girl quite money sense,if she know spend so much, she'll say she rather I spend that money and bring her to holiday.

Is up to your own preference, but if you google "how much should I spend on engagement ring" the advice you get is 2-3 month salary.

For my wife, I spend only less than half month, I super cheapo man - but we wanted the money for other things, so far she not complain too much.

But then if she so money mind as to say you not spend enough also not nice.

Would you like to share your half month then was how much? [:p] Maybe your then half month was my 2 month now. [:)]

I paid only arond $900 for engagement ring - was over 13 years ago, back then I am not sure if I was working full time or not (was end of my uni days) but from what I remember of the time not even half month

So you propose to her without a diamond ring?I guess your wife is very understanding lady! Then $900 was kinda equivalent to nowadays $1500?

It was still a diamond ring - and since then I have also "upgraded" - but I also lucky she is very understanding. Just remember that as with all things in life, words and big dramatic demonstrations of love count for little.

It is the day to day caring, support and respect that counts. You don't give this then buy a 2 carat Cartier Diamond also doesn't matter

Hey bro, your words really enlighten me.I'm afraid the ring I want to get for her wasn't big enough. And true love is by action,no words and gift can overwrite all this part and parcel. [thumbsup] Really a great boost of confidence!

Bro, here r my own answers to ur questions:

1. Proposal ring is proposal ring - not wedding rings.

2. Have to get another set of wedding rings for ROM date. (Tis the norm lah unless save $ heheehe.)

3. Hong Kong SAR is indeed a nice place for proposal. Here's a helpful link....

http://www.hong-kong-hotels.ws/attractions/index.htm

4. Thanks for reading.
