  1. https://mothership.sg/2020/10/sg-marriage-no-wedding/ Getting married without a wedding banquet Parents, do you still insist that your kids have a wedding banquet when they get married? At least mine did when I got married. My mum invited her friends, my tuition teacher when I was young (goodness) and many others whom I do not know. Youngsters prefer to keep it simple and save the money for travel nowadays. As parents we did not insist on a wedding banquet (for my daughter) as we do not want our kids to be in debt. But MY parents were not too happy about our decision. For those with daughters, would you insist for at least a simple banquet? Sometimes its not for the face but we want our daughters to "marry off well". But we have to agree that living expenses are rising and young people thesedays have a mind of their own.
  2. Dear all, Been through quite a few wedding. When the bros here call me up for my address and want to mail me the invitation card, I would tell them don't need, just SMS me the date, venue and time will do. As I got enough mails to go thru already .... and I don't have the card with me always. Unlike SMS .... it's in my phone and I can always see it. Poll Question: So just would like to find out how many of you here don't mind just having SMS as Invitation for wedding? Or do you expect a proper Invitation card to be mailed to you that kind. Please cast your votes ....
  3. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10159106344728766&id=165507888765 Look.. what I scared the most.. slowly we are progressing to a stage where every single thing that happened and labeled it as racist. Hope this is an isolating incident, if not we are in a big trouble.. There are 2 big concern. 1. The way both mainstream and or non mainstream wrote their article on their agenda. News article can have many way of writing, and they way the article is written can subconsciously led us to think in certain direction that the news article want us to believe in. That's very dangerous if say xzy news media want us to believe that so and so race is racist against another race or so on. 2. The use of social media and it outspread. As we all know social media can magnify things if it went viral. What it all mean is that things can get stroke up and become very negative or even cause more anger among others. So that itself is very dangerous weapon.
  4. Spotted somewhere on the many pages of Facebook is a post where a motorcyclist managed to do a proposal with the help of his mates on the road. Done somewhere in our MCE tunnel, Hasan Sanny and his wife-to-be were supposed to be married on the 29th of Aug 2020. However due to the pandemic, the wedding had to be postponed. Not wanting to let that defeat him, the motorcyclist got his friends who then rode on 3 different bikes and wore t-shirts with the words "Marry Me ?" to carry out the proposal. Did he managed to get his girl of his dream? Watch the video here and see for yourself!
  5. Couldn't find a suitable folder, decided to create in lite & ez. Its 10th year anniversary. Net search says blue sapphire is an alternative gift to the traditional diamond. Great idea, diamonds are too mainstream, too common, too boring. Questions: 1) beside blue sapphire, are there alternatives? 2) is where is a good jeweler to get blue sapphire? 3) do these gems have certification of any sort (like GIA for diamonds? Any tips appreciated!
  6. Singaporean woman's wedding with 'ang moh' husband at Clementi void deck is like no other source: https://stomp.straitstimes.com/singapore-seen/singaporean-womans-wedding-with-ang-moh-husband-at-clementi-void-deck-is-like-no We have all been to our fair share of weddings — but have you ever attended any that left an exceptionally deep imprint on your mind? A wedding that Stomper Grace attended on Saturday (Jan 4) was so special and unique that she decided to share her experience with Stomp. The joyous occasion was held at Block 306A Clementi Avenue 4 and combined several elements from different cultures. Grace said: "We've all been to weddings in Singapore, but what made the recent one I attended so special is the couple's effortless way of bringing multiculturalism together on their wedding day. "For background, my good friend is a Singaporean Chinese who recently married a Brit who has been living here in Singapore for a number of years now. "With friends and family coming in from all parts of the world, they wanted to show the unique culture of Singapore." According to Grace, the couple chose the void deck of their block in Clementi as their wedding venue "instead of opting for the usual ballroom". Forget stiff formal gowns and black ties — what made the wedding stand out even more was its 'lepak chic' dress code. Grace recounted: "The food was catered from the couple's favourite restaurant Pariaman, which serves Indonesian cuisine. "There was also a bar that served customised cocktails honouring the couple's respective cultures, as well as a 'potion' inspired by their love for the Dota 2 game. "Guests were entertained with a special lion dance performance and a friendly visit from the ice-cream uncle." Asked if the couple had specifically hired the ice-cream man, Grace explained: "They reached out to the uncle because he sells ice cream around their block. "They told him, 'Come at this time, we will give you $xxx and you can have some business.' "They weren’t sure if he would turn up because they didn’t officially pre-book him or anything, but he did! So I guess you could say he was hired! "As the groom was Jewish, they also had a chuppah as part of their ceremony decor." A chuppah is a canopy under which a couple stands during Jewish weddings. It typically consists of a cloth stretched or supported over four poles. The Stomper added: "After the bride was given the ring, the groom broke a glass as everyone shouted, 'Mazel Tov!' (meaning 'congratulations' in Hebrew). "The celebrations continued with a Jewish celebratory dance (known as a Horah), with the bride and groom lifted on chairs while everyone else danced around in circles." (Grace told Stomp that the Horah was her favourite part of the wedding) (Ms Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Communications and Information, made a surprise appearance at the wedding) Grace said: "What made everything extra special was a surprise visit from the Member of Parliament for Holland-Bukit Timah, Ms Sim Ann, who probably heard about the wedding too! "I can’t think of a better way to witness this beautiful multicultural wedding right here in Singapore."
  7. https://mothership.sg/2020/04/maxi-lim-ah-boys-to-men-marry/ Singaporean actor Maxi Lim got hitched on Mar. 29, to influencer Lizy Teo. In addition to the couple, a total of eight other bridesmaids and groomsmen were present at the ceremony in Sentosa. Bobby Kiran Yeo, a wedding photographer known for his work with local influencers, was also present to capture the day. Yeo expressed in his caption that the group had made the decision to keep the ceremony to 10 people. The intimate ceremony came after Lim announced the postponement of their wedding on Mar. 26, due to safe distancing measures in light of the Covid-19 outbreak. The wedding was supposed to take place on the same weekend (of Mar. 28). Lim said that while it was “not an easy decision”, they have decided that it was “the most socially responsible thing to do.” The couple had announced their engagement about one month earlier, on Feb. 22. Congrats. Their Instagram post about the wedding: Maxi- https://www.instagram.com/p/B-M7SU1h61X/ Liz- https://www.instagram.com/p/B-M398qHNe9/
  8. Where would you suggest to shop for variety of designs/unique? I have walk through some jewellery shops in Vivocity, i think their collections are quite limited and most are common designs. Or should I just search and compare among the online websites? 🤔
  9. Wonder why choosing the right car is so important? The 'I LOVE SUBARU' Facebook Group page recently uploaded pictures of a totaled Subaru Forester. With the windscreen and front frame completely totaled, you would imagine that those in the car could not have left without serious injuries. But thankfully, no grisly photos of the driver follow beyond just a slightly bruised leg. Aren't modern cars a real thing of wonder? The best part of the story is in the caption: The owner of the vehicle, Mr. Jacky Yew is now fit to proceed with his wedding planned for the end of the month! Mr Yew was driving a forth generation Subaru Forester near Yong Peng, Malaysia in the extreme right lane, with two trucks which were in the adjacent lane to his left. When a tyre on the first truck burst and flew off, the second truck was forced to take evasive action. In doing so, the second truck served abruptly into Mr Yew's lane. Mr Yew could not brake in time and collided into the back of the second truck. But after suffering only minor injuries on his right leg, he has apparently walked off from the accident and into a Subaru showroom to get himself... Another Forester! Mr Yew is collecting his fifth generation Forester just one week after the accident. He says, "I may not have made it to my wedding on 30 November if I was not driving a Subaru Forester. I am glad I drive a Subaru and I am grateful it has saved my life. That is why I immediately placed an order for the new Forester, just two days after my accident." The post states that "Subaru takes tremendous pride in safety engineering. We can't predict the future, but we can be better prepared for every possible outcome." We wish Mr Yew all the best for his marriage! (Even if it already looks like he has plenty of lady luck on his side)

  15. Prince Harry and literal American dream Meghan Markle will get hitched in May. Reports are, it will be an intimate, casual ceremony at a rustic little chapel in Windsor Castle. Heard that the hotels are all booked out within minutes or seconds once their wedding date was made known to the public.
  16. Thai wedding interrupted as guest gives birth Feb 25, 2018 BANGKOK - A baby girl sprang a surprise on guests at a wedding in northeast Thailand when she was delivered during the ceremony on Saturday (Feb 24). Her mother, Ms Nattaporn Tesrit, who was a friend of the bride Mayuree Kumchanteuk, was nearly nine months pregnant when she attended the ceremony in Nakhon Ratchasima city's Sikhiu district. As the bride was waiting for the arrival of the dowry procession, Ms Nattaporn went into labour. Though shocked, guests sprang into action to help Ms Nattaporn and moved her under a tree. Rescue workers were called in to transfer her to a nearby hospital. But by the time they arrived, Ms Nattaporn was already in the process of giving birth. With the help of medical officers, Ms Nattaporn gave birth to a healthy baby girl weighing 3.2kg in the shade of the tree. The bride congratulated Ms Nattaporn and took a picture with the baby. Ms Nattaporn was later taken to a hospital for further medical care. Although the wedding ceremony was interrupted by the newborn, guests said they were happy to be present at the event. The birth of a healthy baby is seen as an auspicious sign in Thailand. http://www.asiaone.com/asia/thai-wedding-interrupted-guest-gives-birth?xtor=EREC-16-4[Emarsys_Newsletter]-20180226&extid=6934d0cfb7b252f1ae9f0dbddf5ff88ca8637e77

  19. Do you all find more and more couples holding their wedding dinner at posh hotels ? I have 3 invitations to wedding dinners coming up, in Marriot Hotel, Grand Hyatt Hotel and Oriental Mandarin Hotel. First half of the year already went to one in Sentosa and another in M Hotel. Goodness me these hotels dont charge cheap hor, per table easily $1300 nett. Why nowadays couples tying the knot are so well off, or do they not mind if they cannot break even ? Is wedding dinner so important in determining how blissful a marriage is ?
