i think the profit margins from selling such plugs are much higher than normal plugs

 

When a customer are looking for iridium, obviously they are after performance or longevity. The argument that we are pushing iridium because the customers are looking for iridium sound very unfair to us, don't you think so?

 

It's like you walk into a phone shop, looking for Galaxy S3 and later blame the phone shop salesman that he should have ask you to buy a cheaper LG Optimus phone instead. even claim that he must have make more money from selling you the S3 instead of LG optimus? you think it's fair statement to that salesman?

Its not as if iridium plugs gonna boost you any torque/bhp or any major improvement that your butt could feel, much less paper figures on dyno.

 

End of the day, plug is still a plug to provide spark for combustion and imo normal plugs will be more than sufficient to do the job.

 

All these factor does not justify the huge price difference between the 2 for psychological "improvement".

 

Its just my personal opinions as i tried iridium before.

 

A $60 set of plugs will not boost your hp high enough for that sort of feeling, for that you need to turbo or supercharge the engine. The spark plugs main function is to ignite the fuel/air mixture as efficiently as possible without misfiring.

 

The only benefit from using fine wire iridium instead of thick copper is the lower voltage load place on the ignition coil(less wear and tear), better ignitability and improve flame kernel expansion.
