For some reason, I've got a scratch on the side of my leather car seat. It's quite bad as the leather now opens up. Anywhere to fix this kind of problem?

re-upholster? do whole car if you intend to drive more years. not too expensive if you go for low grade leather.

Hmm... guess I'll just use black tape for the moment.

Better solution....Change car! Haha, yar but seriously just tape lar. Not worth to reupholster the whole thing esp if only one scratch coz the rest of the leather all wasted.

& people will trade in a car with an open leather "wound"? Unless intend to drive until scrap, you will somehow need to get it fix.

I would personally go for full leather upholster & get in in the style (color/stitch) I wanted. You will be surprise how different the car interior feel with new leather.

If the leather can be scratched...so likely it is not even ''leather''......

PVC.

If I am not wrong, alot of compact japanese sedans use "PVC" leather.

Mine the same lah, couldn't even put some real leather for the shift boot, which is only a small piece, or even bother to wrap leather (even if PVC) for the handbrake. Damn cheapskate & eyesore.

If the costing is additional $0.50...for 1 million cars they built....it will be $500K additional cost for the car manufacturer.....so you know why car manufacturer save on small little material

if it has "opened up" as you mentioned, there is no way to repair unless re-upholster.

the cheapest way i can think of is to find the matching material and just re-upholster the particular section of the car

Good example being...the bonnet prop stick for the Teana is really cost cutting....the previous Cefiro came with hydraulic gas struts [shakehead]

6th Gear

Has anyone tried this:

Hi bro, I recently went for a round of CS II PPS Treatment together with my leather seats for my 4 year old car.

My leather seats are still in quite good condition as I use the leather cleaner and conditioner once every other month apart from CS II.
