Non-hdb have other options?

Ask salvation army if they want it.

But my experience volunteering with them is that the people they help are very stuck up. Can only use new things.

You need to pay salvation army to take it away, and before that they have to see if the furniture is in good condition.

Looking to donate or pay to dispose of large sofa and ottoman.

What are my options these days?

Why pay good money to dispose it?

Just post the pic here and see if any bros or sis

will take it away from you and save you some money.

:D

If this works I will post a pic of my MIL

to see if anyone will take her away for free.

I am just kidding lah, I am not such a bad son in law

and expect people to take her away for free.

I am willing to sweeten the deal and pay $50

for their troubles.

:D

I don't remember either....

But I won't be surprised. Bloody stuck up people - both the salvation army guys and the people they are helping.

1. Cannot take old furniture - you give them furniture, they will sell it in their thrift shop and use that money to buy new furniture for the "poor".

2. Same thing for old clothes. They take and sell....

Copied from their website.....

In lieu of rising costs to provide door-to-door collection service for bulky items, we are appealing for an optional contribution of $60 for every collection. A collection note with the contribution amount will be given upon collection and an official NON-TAX DEDUCTIBLE receipt mailed to the recipient in due course.

I donated some new items & used 4 seater leather sofa via this Govt website manned by Social workers. U simply post pics & description on their website & Social workers will tap into this donation list to match with the requirements of their respective clients.

Downside.....u have to provide or pay transport. If u need contact, PM me
