Please use your signal.

I am like that. Even if I am all alone on a deserted road, will automatically signal because it has become a habit :)

Actually, besides learning to form the habit of signaling, SGporeans also have to understand that signaling does not mean you have the RIGHT of way. I have come across many instances of drivers signaling and cutting into a filter lane junction just to get ahead of the queue.

I think the term "Chao Kwan" basically sums up the driving mentality for majority of road users.

Good to see similar mind set ppl.

normal lah.

the worst is when you filter even with proper signal, people still horn you. to make it even worst, they tailgate and point his middle finger to you when he passby your ride... [whip]

big car rules..

after driving for 8 mths, i more or less also becoming a hooligan.. haha, but i don't go pointing middle finger. just give them a little honk [drivingcar]

ever come across some driver when we allowed him to cut in our lane, he turned out to be a (road hogger?). the driver drive at his own prefer slow speed (does not follow the crowd) which in the end we hae to change lane ourselves?

Yes.I do encounter this.In this case, high beam or tap the horn to remind him, hey, you're blocking my lane.If he don't budge, try to filter left and overtake. All else fail, follow and suck thumb.surely someone will do the dirty job of pressing the horn for you.

I agree with that. When the road is clear,I don't signal.Signaling in singapore is a bad experience.one classic example is ppl driving "tiong" car and "zhng" car want to play punk, you signal your intention to filter and they're behind u,purposely speed up and filter before u,catch up and high beam, horn whatever to zap you out of the lane, this ppl really get on the nerves. But normally when I'm ahead, and I'm in lane,I'll bo ka lan and just go in,you want to highbeam, whatever, your problem.Once at sin ming road, got a impreza, just a impreza, simi LJ also don't have want to cut me,he go to the extend to horn all the way and use opposite direction lane to be in front of me,I was slowing down to turn into the funeral parlour. This ppl is crazy. Now what I do is like one of the forumer mention, check clear, signal and out, within 2 flash and I'm in lane.My gf drives, see liao tu lan, keep telling me i signal liao nobody give way.Of cause nobody will when you signal, check, wait, signal still on,all will close gap.Now she much more clever and apply my method, check, signal and out.MAI TU LIAO!

no la, is cars driven by people who seldom drive or the fairer sex that usually do not gives way.

Neutral Newbie

sgporeans are technically incompetent, probably not skilful and quick enough to signal

too weak technically, be it on the roads or in sports, they need foreigners to help them

which of them in F1 tournament, none right? they too weak already to participate in F1, hosting F1 is ok, but none of them could participate

and too stressful

you see their driving records u know already, most of them got either involved in at-fault accidents or have blemished driving records

what do you expect from a not-so-intelligent country

forgive them

hmm.. maybe u can say ego hurt or wat.. but i have to say its v frustrating. cos those who genuinely forgot to check the blind spot will get back to their lane n wave their hand to say sorry.. but some will purposely come in.. plus i believe it also dangerous for me to apply ebrake for him to come in as this will affect the car behind me.. note, the eg im stating here, is nt that the car is in front of me n there is enough space for him to change lane, im stating when he is beside or jus slightly in front (maybe 25% ahead) of me.

I think you are aware that even if you have proper signal, you can also Switch Lane wrongly right?

Like those that signal properly but dont check blind spot.

I know of a friend who did that. I ask him why? he reply: "if got danger other ppl will horn me mah then i just switch back lor."

Its this kind of attitude that make ppl pissed off.

Also, like i mention earlier, if the lane you switch to is very going at 80Km/Hr and you are switching lane at 60Km/Hr, you will be horn.

Also if you switch lane 1/2 way then signal also will be horn.

Signal liao when coast is clear still dont switch and the person decided that you are are not cutting in and speed up but you suddenly switch, you will be horn too.

Finally, switching on Signal ppl also need time to respond, dont expect ppl to brake just for you. In most cases, those that give way to you will ease their accelerator instead of braking.

See all those are fault of the driver who want to switch lane, and they want it now and most of the time its their fault.

My conclusion is this, SG driver have a Fastfood Mentallity, they cannot wait for even 1 sec for other ppl to reacts hence they think all cars will speed up when you signal. But they never see what speed they themselves are travelling, so when they switch lane at 60km/hr to a 80km/hr lane they think everyone close up on them when they signal. And they expect car at 80km/hr to slow down to 60km/hr for them.

When you try to signal earlier, I am very sure that out of 10 cars at least 8 will speed up to disallow you to cut into their lane... no matter what sort of speed and traffic conditions..

So that is the reason why you don't expect early signal now a day. It has become a habit to most of the driver here...

please note that no matter how powerful your car can go or your brake is fully upgraded. Alway think of the car behind you as might not be able to cope with your sudden brake.

Merry Christmas and Drive Safely !

There are ppl who signal & switch lane immediately. Sometime these driver don't even check blindspot.

Luckily, my horn cannot do intermittent horn (pin pin). Once press, it is a blast.

you driving bus ah? dont bluff... if cannot 'pin pin'... i'm sure can 'pin'.... unless you using airhorns? ^_^

Haha that is why normally i dont keep to that lane. I will go to that lane and at the yellow box, switch to the 2nd lane from the left when the chance arrised.

Personally I signal all the time and everywhere (except in MSCPs where it's unidirectional) regardless of whether there are cars or not.

This is for safety purpose as other road users and pedestrians will know your intention.

Please do not be discouraged by motorists who (maybe seemingly) speed up to close the gap.

Some are really very GL and will close the gap. ( I do that too, if the other party is trying to cut queue e.g. at CTE/PIE Changi exit)

But most of the time i notice that it's the car that cannot match the faster speed of the faster lane. (Some even cut in and slowly speed up to catch up the car in front)

Also, some drivers also like to cut in at upslopes and that made things worse especially if your vehicle cannot 'climb' slopes well.

So, please signal when you are changing direction or lanes. This is for safety.

Merry Christmas!

PS. I'm also trying to change the mindset of my father who also doesn't use signals when changing lanes.
