Wah, no fruits how to pang sai siah? [sweatdrop] Need some fibre to wash. Any fruits that can pass anot?

like what bro CBS said, "Fruits are just candy bars growing from trees"....it's true, they're all laden with sugar and carbo.

Just a small amount of brocolli is enough to help u pass motion. If u die die want to have some fruits, i recommend juicing an orange, throw away the juice (or give it to someone who wants it lol) and just eating the pith (the white fibrous stuff).

This diet only works when the body is starved of carbo (insulin deficiency?) and that forces the body to burn fat. The moment u eat carbo, which includes fruits....u will only grow even fatter LOL

How about vegetables? The non starchy type? I think vegetables such as lettuce, peppers, leafy greens, etc should be free foods under a low carb diet.I am concerned about the lack of fibre and other nutrients that normally come with eating fruits/vege? Remember, meaty stuff are generally high in sodium whereas vege/fruits are low. Too much sodium increases BP and is a risk factor for cardio vascular disease also.

Instead of cutting down on all fruits, why not eat the low GL fruits in moderation?

hmm, scientifically, this diet works because the body is starved of carbo, so it will start to utilise its own fat storage....so we won't know how "low" is low GL enough....I would suggest totally cutting out all fruits initially, then after that eating some. Maybe bro CBS can comment more on that, afterall, he knows more than me lol

"Peppers" as in bell-peppers a.k.a pepperoni are fruits, not vege. Fruits are stuff with seeds in them lol.

Yup, you are right. Peppers are technically fruits just like tomatoes. But everyone considers them as vege as they are not sweet [laugh]

I think this is where regular exercise comes in. If you have a low carb diet and do plenty of exercise, then the body will run of carbs very quickly and will have to resort to fat. If keep your carbo intake to, say, 100g a day, i think that should be ok. 100g of carbo is only about 400 cals. You can easily burn the 400 cals with a 5-6km easy jog. The body still needs about 1,400 to 1800 cals for its basic functions, so the fat will be used up.

I am most concern with the lack of fibre in a high fat no carb diet. There are a host of potential problems with a diet low in fibre.

their sweetness a.k.a sugar content is simply masked by the peppery chemicals they have.....try roasting them until caramelized....ooooo so sweet hehehehe

Raw peppers have about 3g of net carbs per 100g. That's pretty low to me :D

100g of cherry tomatoes has 3g of net carbs. I think you are fine [;)]

Put it this way. It is quite difficult to overdose on carbs on vege - I know tomatoes is technicall a fruit but it sure taste like a vege to me! The only vege to avoid are the root vege such as potatoes, corn, etc. Potatoes are a big no no.

I eat LOTS of veges. I polish off a whole box of Earthbound Organic Mixed Herb Salad ($7.85) at a time. Most of the veges I eat are raw. But my main focus are not veges. They don't make me full. Even if I eat 1 kg of veges at a time, the fullness will only last me a few hours. Then I will get hungry and start looking for food to eat. Not feasible for me.

I posted this pic via PM to someone who asked me what I eat some time back, and I took a couple of pictures of my lunch at home:

For the main course, a box of organic salad, a can of sardines in extra virgin olive oil (I poured the olive oil into the salad as dressing), a handful of nuts, a big pat of butter and 2 half boiled eggs with more butter (not shown in pic):

For dessert, a can of coconut cream mixed with 5 teaspoons of freshly ground flaxseed, a handful of almonds, a handful of pumpkin seeds and some walnuts:

On that day, I didn't have time to go to Cold Storage, so I ate canned sardines. Usually, it's a strip of belly pork ($9.95), a whole small chicken ($6.96) if I'm really hungry, or if I'm not really hungry, a chicken leg ($4.50).

I eat LOTS of veges.

That's a "normal" healthy amount....most of the people i know, don't eat or hate to eat vege....i had to force my wife to eat them :( I eat the equivalent of a little vege garden daily lol

Do you buy Earthbound Organic Mixed Herb Salad in Cold Storage?

Isn't canned sardines very unhealthy? Either in salt solution or tomoto ketchup (lots of salt) and preservatives right? I thought all the canned stuff definitely a no-no

Since you work from home and have the luxuty to eat at home, maybe easier just to buy fresh fish, and steam? Much healthier I think.
