Chickenbackside 1st Gear February 1, 2010 Share February 1, 2010 (edited) Interesting. This means I am about at my ideal waistline now. Do you mean shoulder circumference rather than width? Some how, I can imagine you with a four foot wide shoulder with a 30 inch waist! Yes, you're right, it's circumference. Front + back. bro, how u lose 500 g of carb in the body? or you meant FAT? I think he meant stored glucose. Here's an article which explains it: http://www.justinowings.com/b/index.php/me...and-glycogen-de Edited February 1, 2010 by Chickenbackside

Ender Hypersonic February 1, 2010 Share February 1, 2010 I've been lurking in this thread for a while, and great discussions here. I'm almost tempted to embark in this high fat/low carb diet, but am hesitant coz I'm not exactly over weight. I'm 67kg at 1.77m. But a year old blood test reveals I have enough bad cholestrol to cause concern. Since my intention is not to lose weight, but to lower my cholestrol level, is it safe for me to embark on this diet with my regular jogging?

Ender Hypersonic February 1, 2010 Share February 1, 2010 walaio eh, how come everyone's so light (and possibly slim) :( Slim, but with bad cholestrol leh.. Very unhealthy too.. My case is i don't know how to fix. Should I go for the traditionally accepted low fat/high card diet or this high fat/low carb diet?

Put it folks, I just started today, giving it a go. I'm fit for my age, but I want to take off some mass, being older now. No harm in being honest either. But it's taking me sometime to adjust to such meals, which I used to shun away from. Specially really hearty breakfasts laced with high fat content. No harm trying, I'm giving 2 weeks to see if I notice any results. Ok, maybe 3 to be fair. What the hell, make it 4. I'm 98kgs, 1.79mts. Don't talk BMI with me, I bodybuild, spend 3hrs a day in the gym everyday, weights 1,3,5 and cardio 2,4,6. Yeah, I'm a gym rat, something I can do without, and have more time to myself at home. By the time I get home, finish tieing up all the loose ends, and I wake up at 6am to do my morning exercise routine again, which is 1.5hrs. Yeah, train so hard for fark. Triproton Neutral Newbie February 1, 2010 Share February 1, 2010 One of the reason there is such a dramatic loss of weight in a low/no carb diet is because of water loss. The body needs 3 parts of water to store 1 part of carbs. So for example, if you lose 500g of carbs in your body, the total weight loss is 2kg. bro, how u lose 500 g of carb in the body? or you meant FAT? Carbs are stored as glycogen in your muscles and liver. So, if you don't eat enough carbs, the body will use the glycogen stores. Since carbs is the fuel of choice, most people will get immediate weight loss. But most of the loss is water loss. The trick is to train your body to burn fat more efficiently. Triproton Neutral Newbie February 1, 2010 Share February 1, 2010 bro, mayb try taking red yeast. i took for 2.5mths n my total cholesterol drop from 6.4 to 4.2MMOL/L Total Cholesterol does not give you the whole picture. What is important is the ratio of Total Cholesterol to HDL. A recent article posted by CBS recently suggested that not all LDL are "bad" some are actually harmless. So, LDL level may not be so important as HDL and Triglycerides. Aim is to have high HDL and low Triglycerides, then you are likely to have low "bad" LDL. I know, and it's been like this for many years, my gym comes first, above anything else. Because health to me is more important, I hit the same stage as CBS after I left the service. I'm looking forword to dropping my body mass, now getting old, cannot keep going like that. Also, believe it or not, even when we, wife and myself, go on holiday, hotel MUST have gym, and we will train early in the morning, before going out, so to put it, we hardly have a holiday! Two weeks ago, went 5 days BKK, still gym at 5am, then go out shopping from 9am till 8pm, walking around. I sat down thinking about all this when this tread started. Now, I'm decided, I need to cut time and enjoy life more.
