Exercising without a gym

Calories confirm cannot drop, as in no petrol no fire. Very important aspect.

Omg exercise again lol

I dropped 16kg eating more than 3000 calories daily, n reducing my exercise from 1.5 hours daily to 5 minutes of HIIT. I've never been leaner or stronger. It's the macronutrient composition, not the calories. Maybe u wanna read the earlier parts of this thread where evidence was posted...the moment carbs is cut to very low levels, there will be fat loss. Try cutting calories n metabolism will shut down, slowing or even stopping fat loss.

You assume I did not read. I did. You still exercised but it's the type of exercise you had changed which assisted the burning. I don't measure exercise by the no. of min also.

ok whatever.

If not for my inherent love of exercise, i would gladly prove it to u. Eat less than 20g of carb a day, most of the diet saturated fat and protein, more than 3000 calories a day. Guarantee lose weight WITHOUT exercise.

Exercise is to build muscle. Diet is to lose fat. U show me how to change 1kg of lard into 1kg of lean pork, u r the greatest magician in the world. Anyone who goes to the supermarket can see how different these 2 tissues are.

thanks for coming to my defense lol

my wife is also on our high fat low carb diet. She doesn't exercise at all. The moment her calories drop, her weight-loss stalls or she actually gains a little bit of weight. We have been having massive meals regularly. A few days ago she single-handedly demolished a 1kg Patin fish. Mmmm fatty fish hehe.

No problems. I'm on the same thing, carbs as close to zero, and the results are no joke.

My mass has been shaved off so much, that today when I met some friends from SUN Micro and HP, all jaws dropped. Some thot I was seriously ill, but I didn't look that way. Calories for sure cannot drop, if drop, liow. Kiat is doing the reverse, he's trying to pack on some mass, and he has now with a new training method I told him about.

Wah !! Patin Fish!! [thumbsup] Cook Thai Patin Fish curry, POWER MAN!!! Basket, making me mouth water. I was telling someone today about the different recipes, and I was almost drooling! 1kg boh kow chek for me man. [laugh] Hey, next time you cook this fish ah, try the Thai curry version, and use pork lard in, wah......to die for man!! [:p]

thanks for coming to my defense lol

Basically, caloric restriction works for weight loss, but only for a while. Your body will wind down its metabolism to compensate. It senses danger and will do things to prevent any fat from being released for energy unnecessarily. With our modern lifestyles, most of the time, we are in that unnecessary-to-use-fat mode, like sitting in front of the computer, watching TV...etc.

We as humans have the built in need to eat to satiety. I have lost track of how many times when I plan to just eat a little bit, but ended up eating A LOT, until I'm totally satisfied. It's a basic survival skill.

My own experience has been similar to that of Skunk's. I REALLY eat when I'm hungry. I don't eat when I'm not hungry. I easy ingest 4-5000 calories a day, in ONE meal. For example, last night for dinner, I ate 4 pieces of 1" thick grassfed ribeye, 1 big salmon steak, 1/3 block of butter, 1 big bowl of spinach salad with plenty of bacon and a bowl of pork rib soup with lotus root. Totally satisfied after that, and only starting to get hungry now (22 hours later).

That's A LOT of calories. Much more than I can ever exercise off. I alone literally eat more than everyone else in my family combined.

But I have no problems maintaining a 10% bodyfat composition. Please remember I have been fat most of my life, so I'm not one of those people with skinny genes.

Quantity of calories do count. But it's not half as important as the quality of calories.

u r really the winner lol. Already, at 3500 calories i feel like gonna burst. Only rarely do i cross into the 4000-5000 calorie zone lol

I know man. I'm like a freak.

My friends all say I should join those eating competitions. I would, if they had a pure grassfed beef one!

I saw the episode of Man vs Food where there was this 72oz steak challenge. I bet I can finish that steak. But I'd refuse to eat the fries and all the crap around it...

**BTW, I'm so happy to hear your wife being on the bandwagon as well! If I remember correctly, she was a skeptic...

she has lost 18kg so far, totally no exercise lol.

That's fantastic!

Yup, exercise helps, but nutrition is king.

I guess she's not a skeptic anymore, haha...

Like I've said before, I love this lifestyle cos I can eat until I'm totally full and satisfied while maintaining good health. When good health is in place, a good body will follow.

Win win win....

wow when did she start?

hmm....around mid-April.....i was dropping 1kg per week, so she got inspired LOL.

Last week at church, an old family friend who hadn't seen us in a long while, said she's amazed both of us are looking so good :)

it's not just about losing weight, there's a radiance and health that extrudes from our very skin, almost as if we were created to eat this way :)

An interesting nugget of knowledge:

There is only ONE instance recorded in the bible about food that God ate.

God came to dine with Abraham. Abraham served Him beef (tender calf), butter (curd) and milk (definitely raw). And God ate it.

Although Abraham's servants made bread, there was no mention that it was served.

on the Canada low-carb forum, someone rightfully said, "Diet is for looking good with clothes on. Exercise is for looking good with clothes off." LOL

I know this will sound freaky and raise some heckles among churchgoers, but i believe:

1) Yes, we were created to be optimally carnivorous. God made us this way. Lots of examples in the Bible, Abel's offering of meat accepted, but Cain's grain offering not. It was mentioned numerous times, He found the aroma of burnt meat to be "pleasing".

2) The "tree of knowledge" in Genesis, though inspired fiction, was the story of humanity itself. How we abandoned the Garden of Paradise, where we were naked hunters, to learning the knowledge of cultivating plants and becoming weak herbivores. The story of Paleolithic-Neolithic transition being passed down in religion.

3) Bread and wine is not supposed to be our daily food. It's sacred food, supposed to induce a higher state of consciousness to communicate with Divinity. This is not uncommon in many religions. There's evidence to show that interactions between insulin (triggered by carbo in bread) and alcohol, can heighten the effects of alcohol in affecting the brain. No wonder ppl like to have "puay jiu" food LOL

In light of this, when i receive Communion, it has become even more sacred to me. The only time i purposefully have carbohydrate in a week, is the most sacred moment.

Paisay if this is too alternative for people to accept LOL it's my own opinion, not imposing it on anyone, just sharing.

For me, I eat when hungry. When not hungry, I don't eat. I believe this is the most natural, thus healthy way. The notion that we have to eat 3 meals a day based on fixed timing is just so Industrial Revolution lol
