Hermitage 1st Gear February 1, 2010 Share February 1, 2010 Usually I travel around 100+km/h on e-ways. But just yesterday, I was going around 120km/h or so when I was severely tailgated by some WRX with headlights OFF, but with those white LED running lights ON instead. Still, as irritating as this is (I'm NOT irritated by his tailgating, it's his lights I'm irritated about!!), I immediately moved over to the left to let him pass. If I did the jam brake move that some suggested, that would've been IT for both of us!! So for those actually contemplating this course of action whenever you get a tailgater behind you...SCREW YOU!! When someone tailgates you, it means his/her vehicle is faster than yours, so get your sorry, ego-centric a.ss off the right lane!!
Jamesc Hypersonic February 1, 2010 Share February 1, 2010 Tailgaters? Never met any. I siam to the left a long way away when I see a car closing the gap to me fast.
Pinkypink Neutral Newbie February 1, 2010 Share February 1, 2010 yeah just tap lightly on your brakes and the brake lights will come on already. eh but that brake light switch thing is quite interesting! what's that about?
Jamesc Hypersonic February 1, 2010 Share February 1, 2010 Cars sitting in a box junction blocking everybody? I see that all the time! Cars slowing down when the traffic lights turn yellow? Never seen that at all. Cars moving off really slowly when the lights turn green? See it all the time. To the people who say - I drive at 90 kmh bcos I am a safe driver, can I ask - have you ever gone faster when the traffic lights change to yellow? Isn't the safe thing to do to slow down to stop when you see yellow? When it comes to blocking people on lane 1 - I am a safe driver. When it comes to slowing to stop on yellow lights at a junction - I need to get across and get to my destination faster! So when it comes to you, I need to make progress, when it comes to blocking people on lane 1 - I am a safe driver! Selfishness is selfishness, dun kid yrself its safety. Darryn Turbocharged February 1, 2010 Share February 1, 2010 i thot that is normal to be able to tap brakes to light on before the brakes takes effect? or is my brake pedal loose also?? Some cars are specifically set up for brake lights to come on before brakes activated, I think precisely for the sorts of situation we talk here. Also an educated foot can do a lot, very very gentle brake light can come on, but car barely slows down....
Nemo6089 1st Gear February 1, 2010 Share February 1, 2010 The best way to stop tail gating is to GO FASTER. Very good advise, you will have a tail gater sticking on your rear at higher speed. Best is to tap your brake and maintain a bigger gap between the car in front and you to avoid the tailgater from ramming into your rear when you emergency brake. Vhtfhwlego Supercharged February 2, 2010 Share February 2, 2010 Because sometimes i am travelling faster than the cars in lane 2 but then someone else is travelling even faster. So I have to wait till I can filter to lane 2 for the faster car to overtake me. Or not there are cars in front of me on lane 1 already so I cant go any faster but the car behind is still tailgating me. As mentioned, it is LL but to let the tail gater tail-gate you till you can filter to lane 2 or wait till till he overtake you from left if that he/she is agressive enough. Agentwilson 1st Gear February 2, 2010 Share February 2, 2010 (edited) you should go to Lane 2. A lot of cars / lorry road hog this lane at 70. sometimes 60. i always dun see it as bigger vehicle can bully smaller one... same like bike... car langga bike, 90% car fault.. likewise, lorry langga car, the likelihood is lorry sala... so i dun see it as bigger vehicle can bully Edited February 2, 2010 by Agentwilson
Fireball0088 5th Gear February 2, 2010 Share February 2, 2010 My car the brake pedal abit loose. So when I touch it the brake light will turn on but the car will not slow down at all. But i have a friend who installed a switch so that he can turn on his brake light whenever he wants to. why would he bother to fix that? unless he is a professional road hogger. he should instead drive NOT on the first lane or drive FASTER
Agentwilson 1st Gear February 2, 2010 Share February 2, 2010 This morning .. an idiiotic biker hogging lane 1 (ECP) @ 80+km/hr. A car was right behind him smelling bike exhaust ... super dangerous .. if car touch the bike a bit, bike will fly .. but biker still maintain riding center of lane 1 even though the left is all clear. I overtook from left and kept close to lane marking to make sure the biker don't come in front of my car and hog center of lane 1 again. wad if he overtake from right then? hahahahaa

Vhtfhwlego Supercharged February 2, 2010 Share February 2, 2010 I often tells my wife that you are unsafe at all speeds. When luck runs out, you can stop at traffic lights when red and some guy ram you from behind, push your car in the middle of junction and T-Bone by a truck. There's one time when I was at lane 1 of SLE entering BKE towards JB and I just want to slowly curise down (by engine brake from an auto car)to speed limit from 90km/hr to 50km/hr, guess what happen? A tree branch fell onto my windscreen! There was no major damage to the car expect for a few scratches and an angry man. Some say that if that I were speeding, the impact were to be more but I feel that if that I were speeding, I would miss the branch. And normally when there is no cars infront of me, I will play with the corners. Being a safe driver, I ate the branch. Heard another story from a friend's friend's friend's dog's BF's Ex (something like that) that driver in Australia drives fast at cliffs without a seat beat. Then one day he crashed, flips the car in midair and as it was a convertible, both he & the passerage drops from their seats and car went down the cliff. I personally thinks that this story is fake as passerage might drop from the seat but a driver would had hold on the steering wheel and go down with the car or legs were to be caught by the steering wheel. Anyway, think about my logic behind unsafe at all speed.
Jamesc Hypersonic February 2, 2010 Share February 2, 2010 If safety is the concern, why not stay on lane 3 or 4, or better still stay at home That would be nice but all road hoggers believe driving slowly on lane 1 is the place to be! ↡ Advertisement
