If you don't have an idea what it is, check these videos out.

Like kungfu moves! POWER! Like Master Ip Man on that wooden dummy at accelerated speed!

World record holder Steven Purugganan from the US.

Rachel, Youtube's speedstackinggirl. Featured together with Steven on Discovery Channel's Time Warp.

First time I saw it, thought it is camera fast forward!

My daughter is learning to play the piano but when she gets bored with practise, she plays with stacking cups.

You cannot find Speed Stacks in SG. Can only buy online. Best alternative I found is Crazy Cups.

Bought my set at Bloomington, Anchorpoint.

Give her a break. Like any 11yo. Caught in-between the ages and takes delight in her achievements. It's like seeing your own kid react when they finally ride the bicycle the first time. The first time I saw my girl play just a short musical piece w/o referring to the notes had her running around like a headless chicken telling everyone.

You try to do it fast. Then you see how it is.

There are rules. 3, 3, 3 stacks are the simplest. Then the cycle stack is the hardest. There is a procedure to it as well as technique.

Tried to do it with my supposedly superior adult mind and hands found me fumbling.

Like piano, you practice. Kids don't like piano practice. You want to keep their minds comfortable with using both hands so, you give them something fun to do and achieve.

You want to give them something easy to do but hard to achieve faster times. Keeps them occupied with some objective.

Games like these I do not see the benefit but instead plenty of downside.

Let me try to list the positives:

Allows children interaction, team work, motor skills, something to be proud of, the mental challenge.

The downsides:

Teaches kids faster better cheaper is good.

Now do you understand?
