Airbag Light Will Stay On If Change Steering?

I bought a new steering wheel and called my mechanic to book a time to install, he told me that because my existing steering wheel has an airbag and the new one doesn't, the airbag light will stay on if I fix on the new one.

Anyone knows how to get around this issue? I'm hoping to do something so that the airbag light will not come on.

Mine is aftermarket steering.

They have a switch/wiring to bypass the indicator.

I bought and install at the same shop, so not a problem.

Air bags are useless, and dangerous (IMO). Wear your seat belt you won't need an airbag.

normally they will sell the bypass resistor together with the boss kit.

or sell seperately

then u buy then install . so ur AB light wont be light up.

The steering wheel came with boss kit and some wires, don't know if the bypass is one of them, fingers crossed, it's in there. What should l look out for?

if ur light remains on is also not an issue :)

unless u find it an eyesore than u need to spend more to bypass..otherwise u can jus leave it

this must be the best advice i've seen. i better go remove all my airbags. waste space and weight only

My ride came with airbag, but don't need resistor.. The mech just "plucked-out" the airbag LED..

That is quite a good and economical idea, I'd think it is reversible as well, ie. can connect the LED back. Was yours done at a workshop that also does general car servicing or should I go to those specialising in wiring?

Mine was done in JB, dealing with accessories.. I guess can be done in Sg as well.. Shops specializing in wiring works especially..

from wat i understand from my mech, nds a bosskit with a resistor to bypass the airbag...

tink change of steering had 3 functions..

either

1. improve looks

2. improve handling response,

3. stock wheel is too big to use with bucket or semi-bucket seats..

anyway, for me, i wld changed becos i know it's difficult for me to fit in and out of my car once i installed in semi bucket seats with stock wheels...

[drivingcar] ............ [rifle] .................. [knife] ............... [bigcry] ....................

..dangerous??? only if you are doing something dangerous when the air bag was deployed.... like hving a steak wif a fork and knife while driving...

useless??? i cant comprehen at all....

btw i thought all air bags inflate and deflate immediately? [confused]

Just paste a black tape over the indicator.
