hi,

being an owner of a car for the first time, i have a question about car alarm.

i understand stock already comes with an alarm, however after market, example: spy is a 2 way alarm..

may i know the real purpose of an alarm, apart from it's flashing led, voice talking and stuff..

is it worth the investment? is it a must to have after market alarm.

no doubt, i was quite fascinated by the flashing led and some, even record songs/viper/transformer when they unlock/lock their car.

[laugh]

i notice mini bus, lorry are all armed with after market alarm, making me wondering should i go for it too.

can tell me the real beauty of an aftermarket alarm. [:/]

Nowadays, alarm is useless because nobody will look at it. For 2 way, ur life might be very busy as when a small animal causes fault alarm.

some stock alarms are 1 way.. meaning if ur car is hit or whatsoever... it will not 'tell' u...

its more like FYI nia.. and the distance is far... example: crimestopper 2016...

some better ones.. are those on gsm /gps alarm... to me these type of alarms are the best, better than IM...

true... especially those who set the sensitivity to the highest... those FT who distributed brochures, will move the wiper up and the wiper will slam it down, which scare the s--t out of those ppl... [laugh]

yea... but when too sensitive settings, you risk annoying your neighbours with your ride screaming all night from 1.rain 2.window brouchers 3. ppl park nxt to your ride 4 ppl walk pass your ride 5.genuine saboteurs

after running out of hse for 3-4 times in a nite, i surrendar and got myself in car cameras...lolx...which brings out another problem... flattens your battery...

there is no end to it...

car alarm emphasizes the importance of a good security system as an important feature to improve your car protection and keep your insurance costs down. A word of advice : remember to contact your insurance company. You should be able to get a reduction of your premium if you are looking to add a security system to your car.

Actually 2way alarm functions more than your normal flashing led or voice talking stuff, thats more for 1way fanciful alarms. Our Carscop 2way alarm has so many function that I will only tell you the main functions which I am using. Remote engine start to cool your car down in hot weather, 2way alarm function which will notified you if you are within range that your car is forced open or even other cars hitting your car thus causing the shock sensors to trigger your alarm. You may feel such a alarm is not necessary but consider the price last time and now, you will see that 2way alarms are getting cheaper plus more functions.

There is always people who dislike installing all this alarms and worried that it will damage their car or harm their electronics. So far we sold more than 600 alarms and there are no such problems. I have been using the same Carscop 2way alarm for 2 years and everything is still good. I will not sell this alarm for 18mths if its

lousy. We are the sole distributor for this brand of alarms in Singapore and we even send it for approval from IDA Singapore as its a must for 2way FM car alarms. $220 with installation is really a super low price to get.

I installed aftermarket 2-way alarm on my previous ride before.

Pros:

1) Piece of mind especially if my car is parked in open air carpark. Range is about a few hundred metres.

- I parked my car on the 4th storey of MSCP and i could receive the signal on level 7 opposite the MSCP.

- I parked my car on the loading/unloading bay downstairs and i could receive the signal on level 24.

- If some kuku knocked into your car, you'll be informed immediately. (but this is useless in carparks that are inside building as signals cannot be received.)

2) Door not closed properly and the alarm will go off and you'll be informed.

Cons:

1) Evo/WRX go past and the alarm will go off.

2) Scramblers go past and the alarm will go off.

3) Thunderstorm and the alarm will go off.

4) Quite irritating at times especially at night when there's a thunderstorm I had to disarm and use the normal locking.

5) Forgot to add, the extra remote is bulky.

IMO, if you frequently park in carparks inside buildings (eg, shopping centres, office building etc), the 2-way alarm is useless as you are unable to receive signals. But if you frequently park in open air carparks or along roadside, 2-way alarm could be useful.
