Sci10213 3rd Gear March 21, 2010 Share March 21, 2010 Hi I'm a bit confused on this area... If there is a label on the tyre that says max pressure is 350, so my setting on the air pump is not more than this. But the label found on the car (driver side) states a different measurement like 2.1 or 4.2kgf something? This means what? ↡ Advertisement
Celicagt42010 Neutral Newbie March 21, 2010 Share March 21, 2010 You pump at the pressure on the label. Not the max pressure of the tyre. Just use an online conversion tool to convert between the units.

But the label found on the car (driver side) states a different measurement like 2.1 or 4.2kgf something? This means what? ================== Most tires have a recommended pressure of about 210kpa. Do not pump too much more than this & never pump the Max pressure(350kpa) as stated on the tire. U wil prob kill yourself if u pump the max pressure. Spying Clutched March 21, 2010 Share March 21, 2010 2.1 bar --> 210kpa --> 30psi approx. I usually pump according to the label by the door. That should be a rough guideline, i would imagine slightly less than recommended would mean more grip but faster wear while slightly more would mean less grip but less wear. Not too extreme though and definitely not max that the tire can withstand or risk going POP.
Nf0rc3r 1st Gear March 21, 2010 Share March 21, 2010 (edited) My states 1 passenger > Front 230 Rear 210 5 Pessengers + Luggage in Boot > Front 240 Rear 250 I pump all 250s. abit higher is quite ok. helps the fuel consumption too. Not too high until u lose grip though.. Edited March 21, 2010 by Nf0rc3r
Redplanet Clutched March 21, 2010 Share March 21, 2010 Mine @39 psi, about 270kpag. My personal preference though.....just avoid pumping to max pressure as stated on tyre wall.

Usually what people do is to add abit more air. I would recommend you to pump, 220kpa = 32 psi = 2.2 bar check your tyre pressure and best to do it at least once per month. ultimately, you have to decide yourself what pressure to use and how frequent you pump.~ BAR-to-PSI-to-KPa Converter
Hiphiphoray 6th Gear March 22, 2010 Share March 22, 2010 My 225 x 50 x 17" tyre also says 350 max. I always check and maintain 250 for my tyres. Is this ok ? Cos i notice everytime it goes under 230 pressure, can feel the tyres dragging on the road.
Puteh83 1st Gear March 22, 2010 Share March 22, 2010 i have the same problem...i pump it every fortnight... but feels the pressure drops 1 week later... tyres are quite new somemore...

Jordanplus 1st Gear March 22, 2010 Share March 22, 2010 it depens on your tyre size. bigger tyre pump higher psi. e.g 225/40/17 is different 225/50/17. am i right? i pump 230-240kpa for my 195/55/15.
Berncsp76 6th Gear March 22, 2010 Share March 22, 2010 (edited) yep...my pica 165/60/R14 i also pump 235-240... good to pump every week or fortnightly so as to optimise the tyres and improve FC..can add a little more if the distance from your home to the nearest petrol station is far coz the tyres will be heated up (air inside heats up too) so need to pump slightly higher pressure. Btw sometimes a bit confusing for different petrol stations too. I like to use those needle types that SPC provides rather than the See Hum wan which uses the electronic wan, coz the former gives me a more accurate reading.
