just wish to share my experience

 

i drive 1.4, 1.6L Auto-gearbox Van (Kangaroo) before, the engine brake is very obvious (mean jerk) especially at 2nd gear.

Want to highlight that my gear is push to D and i know it is on 2nd gear at that moment.

 

and i did drive those 2.0L car, the engine brake is less.

 

not so sure about the technical knowledge (gear ratio or power transfer etc), but to my conclusion is that:

2.0L car is considered "more" luxury car and it is built for comfort, that is why no jerk

 

 

and i guess TS is driving 2.0L auto-gear car?

the jerk is caused by engine torque. van has higher torque lower down in the rpm range. most cars peak torque is higher up hence you feel the jerk only at higher rpms. The difference or rather lack of torque when the rpms drop is what causes the jerk.

i think you misunderstood my question

 

I am talking about the "few seconds" after i release my accelerator

If i release my accelerator for about 3 seconds, my speedometer doesnt change at all.

 

Of cos if i release it longer, it will slow down after it moved for some distance

Your car is perfectly good. In fact, your Auto gear is a better one.

Why? When cruising, we want the rolling resistance to be minimum, to save on fuel.

So, when you release the accelerator, the gear will remain and the car will slow down by wind drag.

But when you going down long slope, you apply break to slow your car down from 90km/h to 70km/h and release break.

Since you are still on the slope, the car will pick up speed. But now, your ECU recognizes your intention, to slow the car down to 70km/h. So, it down shifts immediately to 3rd gear and start the engine break to keep your speed at 70km/h. (The 70km/h is just and example).

If you need it slower, step on the break to reduce the speed to 50km/h and release. Now, the ECU will try to keep the speed at 50km/h.

Alternatively, you down shift to D3 or O/D off and the engine break will kick in immediately.

 

If your case is, that you are driving at 30-40km/h and release accelerator and no engine break, then something is not right with your car.
