Could i juz check wif fellow forummers on this topic. The scenario is like this. A car was involved in a pile up. Front end is gone and airbags deployed. What is the likelihood of the insurance company writing it off? Its a 6+year old continental make.

It largely depends on the cost of repair. Insurance company will get an evaluation on the repair cost and calculate the value of the car and compare which is higher. If repair cost is higher, insurance company will write off the car.

If really damage is so bad till need to write off, insurance renewal is going to be very very high..... Unless TS is claiming from 3rd party and not his own.

Btw nt my car but a family member. Ok as of now the scrap value is approximately $30K. Cud the repairs amount to close to tat figure? I noe tat from A- pillar towards the back is fine. Its only the front end which is damage.

30K.....Hmm.... Its hard to tell because its a conti car, repair cos may be inflated compared to Jap. I once seen a Sunny front end crushed and airbags deployed. Its was repaired instead because it cost around $15K (basically get half cut and weld up the front).

Its a definate claim from own insurer because the car rammed other party from the back,

Just base of the few photos without seeing how badly damaged the chasis i would say most likely to be repair rather than scrap. A new bonnet, radiator, bumper, both sides front fender, all the lightings plus labour for aligement, respraying, knock knock here knock knock there etc.

Word from a mech that did an intial assessment of the car in m'sia, the chassis is 100% in tact. Don't know how much to believe him; i'd rather wait for the car to be towed back to SG and let the authorised workshop do their own assessment.

Just looking at the damage, I could imagine that the main chassis is probably not damaged too severely, given that the front fenders aren't severely crumpled. The major cost of course is the replacement of the two front airbags.

Did the car hit a goods lorry or something, or another car? The damage appears to be one where the car had hit a vehicle with a high tailgate or rear bumper.

No idea wat they hit. But i noe it was caused by a car tat lost control on the highway causing a 7 car pile up. Apparently tat section of the highway was closed off for awhile.

Thankfully every1 walked away unscathed. Only a little shock. The people in the car tat lost control suffered minor bruises.

What kind of costs are we looking at for a typical pair of srs airbags? I believe we have to bring it back to the agent to get it replaced right?
